As we stand on the threshold of a new year, I can not ignore the hatred, violence and failing democracies that I have witnessed in the last months and marked the times we live in. While I don’t seem to find any reasons to celebrate, my heartfelt wish for the coming year is immediate PEACE. A profound and lasting Peace for the world.  🤲🕊💖

Well, since I only posted once in 2022 I picked my own favourite works from the last couple of years :) And to counterbalance my nonappearance here it’s me, the real face behind that nomad unicorn! Where did 2022 go? It feels like yesterday when I came back from visiting my family in Argentina ❤️ but that was in march already! Ironically, I feel that this year I became slower to work, which sometimes creates frustration and anxiety, so I figure time flew by while I was busy trying to figure out, surf + accept the new challenges outside of my control 🏄‍♀️ Looking back to 2022 I’m grateful for all the old and new friends, family, insta-friends, colleagues, clients, people who bought my work, roller skate friends (and for being able to skate again after almost 2 years recovering from a nasty ankle sprain), and for the new connections through the most supportive and inspiring community I joined in march: the wonderful @illustrationladies_amsterdam. Thank you all for your support, learning experiences and precious time. New illustration inspired by roller skating in the wonderful 70s

Typographic poster from the 'despair' and 'I read the news today. oh boy' series. The original version was simpler, just playing with the seven letters that form the 'despair' word, but then I accidentally duplicated and pasted the same poster on top of the page and a bit smaller, and... I liked better like this! I think it creates more chaos that strengthen the idea of despair. I also tried in different colours, I like lilac but orange may work better as it feels more dramatic. Last weekend was one of those days that I dived into the news and couldn't believe all the horrible things that are happening in Afghanistan + wildfires, flash floods and earthquakes on top of the already ongoing humanitarian crisis, social issues, etc. around the world! Despair and the old classic quote 'I read the news today. Oh boy' came to my mind and inspired me create some posters using typography and images that helped to translate those feelings into graphic ideas. Also a good exercise to remove the rust after being working mostly on illustration projects in the last months 🤖 I played with analogue tools + dived into my old pictures folders that I haven't seen in ages and found some interesting stuff shot with my point and shot camera in the early 2000s. I think that the girl in the central poster is a picture I made from my laptop screen while I was playing some music ~that I don't remember~ on YouTube, probably around 2004 :) Here are 3 out of a lot. I'm still working on a few more and will be sharing them in the next few days. The Piccolo's 🙋🏽‍♀️🙋‍♂️2 characters created for the city of The Hague in collaboration with theprojects.nl 🚀 These bellgirl and bellboy are called 'piccolos' and were introduced by the city of The Hague to create a good atmosphere in the shopping streets amidst the rules and restrictions of corona measures that attempt to curb the crowds in the shopping streets. Their job is to give visitors a warm and welcome feeling when they come to do their shopping. They were last minute added to the campaign as the shops were allowed to open again after a long lockdown earlier this year, in May. The mission was to depict them as two young teenagers, a half blood girl and a white boy in their 'piccolos' blue uniform.
