Hi im a librarian amd that's not now this works. If a library allows you to have a digital card and not live in the area, you are NOT taking away resources from other people, that's not how anything works. Please keep doing it!!! The more people that use our services, the more money we can get from funding sources!!! Please use us!!! We are not utilized enough, by people in or out of our community. Thanks.
*turns my attention inwards* mmmmm. no *turns my attention back outwards* oh god

Last year, I befriended a Catholic seminarian. We've gotten to be pretty decent friends. Seeing as he was staying in town for the summer and I wasn't, I entrusted him with caring for my plant.
He did a wonderful job, but as he was returning my plant to my custody, he explained "I watered her every other day, I gave her new dirt, moved her into the sunshine, prayed the rosary-"
"What?"
He looked at me, confused. "Isn't she a plant you pray with?"
"No," I said slowly. "She's a prayer plant. That's the... colloquial name of the plant."
Upon seeing his stricken face, I realized something went wrong. Turns out, this entire time, he's been including my plant in on his prayers and leaving her near icons.
Listen, totally cool. My plant becoming Catholic is a great deal for her not dying over the summer. But now I must navigate this interfaith household. Keep me in your thoughts.
“You write the beginning and then you go back and rewrite the beginning, and you never got off page one. It’s kind of a syndrome, and I have a rash piece of advice which is — Go on, page two, page three, and never look back. Get something finished, no matter how lousy it is. […] Perfectionists cannot get going unless they kind of do violence to their own instincts, and just blast ahead.”
— Ursula K. Le Guin, The Last Interview and Other Conversations
A Woman Rocking Menswear in India, 1940s.
This is a photo of my very elegant grandmother, Sushila Rao, posing with her new camera in India, where she was born and raised. It was probably taken sometime in the 1940s. She’s wearing a tailored, white linen suit and flat, brown leather sandals, which make her look so strong despite the fact that she’s very petite. It was very daring of her to be out and about in menswear back then, rather than a traditional sari! -Tejal

A fine recipe from Ursula LeGuin!
still not over the richy jay songs in the scene where shane meets rose for the first time. i love the way the infusion of haitian-canadian culture gives depth to both the doomed relationship and the character of jj, and maybe tierney is using the scene to celebrate his hometown a little at the same time? anyway i think i like "en dedans" better, but this was the one i could find on a platform that works in my browser. also it's barely audible in the background of the scene but deserves to be heard for real. this episode starts with "my moon my man" and ends with "all the things she said," so mr. jay might be at a disadvantage.
meanwhile the creole/french lyrics are broadening my francophone horizons. important stuff.

made in blender, based on a soviet era postcard. this is all rendered in eevee, with the windows and light details drawn with grease pencil. I animated the little people in the windows as well, but maybe I shouldn't have bothered.
these are the programs they used to make flow, the gorgeous latvian movie about animals!
Girl photographed by Hugh Magnum c. 1909
Magnum’s photographs are notable for their informality, which was unusual for the period. I just adore the series of this girl, she’s such a beauty.
