one of the reasons I think tv has become a more inferior storytelling medium in the streaming/binge model era is so many of these shows barely strive for our attention anymore, comfortable to meander for several hours without any real plot development until it's time for the finale, "second screen dialogue", some truly inefficient storytelling technique that would've been critically slammed a decade ago as unskilled writing and general wankery, instead of fighting to keep us engaged enough to stick around after the next ad break, let alone the next week. there's no desperation, no respect for our time and dedication anymore, and it offends me

This might get me cancelled but I’m kind of done with the reaching and think-pieces of IWTV and its fandom specifically…like for your audience to have to literally analyse a scene from every angle, dissect a two-min conversation like it’s carrying Shakespearean levels of nuance, and attribute motives and personality traits on characters who simply don’t possess them - JUST to enjoy a show is getting slightly too far-flung and “copey” for my tastes. Like yes, the books exist and give you context, but also your personal preferences are extremely obvious and cloud your perception and form of analysis…like sometimes things can really be taken at face value in that the SHOW is trying to express something, but you are simply ignoring it in favor of your own interpretation…which is fine, but a little weird when a mass-psychosis seems to happen in which everyone has the same delusion…idk it’s just getting a little weird. Like IWTV has always encouraged this kind of fan-relationship due to its intense niche fanbase and also its nature of questioning memory/perception…but at what point does it stop being subtext and context clues and becomes pure mass delirium? I could just be a hater of annoying people but is there anyone out there who understands what I mean? Please don’t crucify me. Also I am mainly talking about IWTV TWT. Idk what goes on here.
