About the flag

The demisexual flag uses the colors from the asexual flag, since demisexual falls under the asexual umbrella. The black triangle represents asexuality. The white represents sexuality. The purple strip represents community. The grey represents the grey-asexual spectrum.

What does demisexual mean?

When someone experiences sexual attraction only after forming an emotional connection with the person.

What is it like to be demisexual?

So…when I was younger and my friends started getting crushes on people that they never talked to and basically didn’t know anything else than how they looked, it just confused me. Like, how can you have a crush if you don’t know anything about the person. Like, I could tell they were cute or handsome but that’s basically it. Then there was this person, they were nothing special, I didn’t even think they were attractive but as I got to know them better they were the prettiest person on earth in my opinion. Basically I don’t care about looks. You can be as pretty as you want, I will still feel no feelings for you. If I get to know you and like you I can fall in love with you. I don’t fall in love with how you look, I fall in love with your personality (sounds cheesy but that’s how it is for me) so I can even fall in love with an “ugly” person if I love their personality and I can’t imagine doing sexual things with a person that is attractive and I don’t know their personality. It’s just…no…xD

demisexual - only being able to feel sexual attraction towards a person if an emotional bond was formed OR if you feel romantic attraction

demisexuals can have, and enjoy, sex. however, not all demisexuals desire sex

many demisexuals that desire sex focus more on how it feels, rather than their attraction towards the person

demisexuals are often attracted to fictional characters

demisexuals are also often attracted to people who cosplay their favorite characters

many demisexuals can only have a crush on one real person at a time. like, they can be attracted to many fictional characters, but only have 1 person they know in real life that they like

demisexuals never really look at somebody they’re just seeing for the first time twice. it isn’t until an emotional bond is formed that they start noticing physically attractive things about that person.

demisexuals are not “picky”

demisexuals are not just “waiting until marriage/waiting to meet the right person.”

basically, somebody’s whose demisexual can’t just look at a stranger that people think is attractive and feel the same way

Since I weren’t able to find any Pride Month Calendars for 2017, I decided to make my own. I used the dates from this post: https://demi-romantics.tumblr.com/post/161388510390/happilyemeraftr-old-calendar-but-just-so-you and applied them to this years dates since I was getting confused looking at the 2016 calendar. Since I was having fun with creating it, I coloured each in its flag colours (and then realised that a lot of flags have white and other lite colours in them so yeah..). I hope you all like it and that it will be useful to you!

(In the tags I have written the pride days in order of them occurring so if you have difficulties with reading some day, you can just check it in the tags.)
