This keeps the baby in the main flow of daily life, where they can be easily checked on during naps and quickly reached for diaper changes or soothing. Everything the little one needs is close at hand, making caregiving efficient and stress-free.

The adults’ bedroom is upstairs, with baby gates in place. This separation allows adults to move freely, host guests, or unwind late at night without disturbing the baby’s sleep. It also naturally prevents the child from accessing things they shouldn’t—drawers, personal items, or (their) adult belongings—without constant supervision.

Beyond convenience, the layout reinforces clear boundaries within the home. The downstairs area is open, shared, and supervised—appropriate for a sub who needs structure and oversight. The upstairs space is private and adult-only, a quiet retreat that belongs solely to the caregivers. It’s a physical reminder that not every space is communal, and that different areas of the home exist for different roles and responsibilities.
