also it's become increasingly obvious to me as I worked on my hurtcember24 series that yashiro and katsuyori are trying to one-up each other (unknowingly) at being uber depressed and miserable. it's actually hard to tell who's more traumatised and better/failing at hiding it. They are trying so hard to not exist while being forced to exist - and interact with people! ughhhh~~~

I would say at least Katsuyori does manage to snatch tinyyy private moments of happiness (eating sweet things, liking cute things) while Yashiro rarely tries at all. Man is DEPRESSED god

(buuut I have totally been there and it's SUPER hard to pull yourself out of that rut. I actually kind of sympathised with their birthday situations because........I'm nearly the same way. I'd prefer not to acknowledge my bday at all orz)

Honestly there is WAY too much shit going on the Yakuza/LaD games for anyone to keep track of >:..((( I was going thru the wiki looking up something for a fic I'm writing and I realised I got the timeline of the Nishikiyama Family's dissolution all wrong. I forgot they were disbanded in Y3. I thought they'd been disbanded maybe a few months after Nishiki died. Oops. I'd implied in my hurtcember series that Yashiro and Zenshiro were taken in by Majima not long after Nishiki (and his Family) had died. But the NF would've still been active. Dang, time to do some rewrites (gnashing my teeth). I found a fix though.

Yashiro DOES defect from the NF after Nishiki dies. With everything in chaos at that time, and because he was still loosely affiliated with the Nikkyo, plus his own reputation, no one really made an attempt to stop him. I think most in the NF thought he was going to khs, because he and Nishiki had been so close. So they just let him go (and Zenshiro went with him).

Koji Shindo (the NF's 2nd patriarch, canon chara) actually did try to stop him and kill him, coming at Yashiro with a katana, but Yashiro was dual-wielding katanas himself at the time (that had belonged to his sensei, OC Kengo Uko) and soundly defeated him. Koji considered Yashiro a traitor (for leaving the NF) and Nishiki's abandoned lapdog, and therefore saw him as of no further use to anyone. One of Yashiro's regrets is not killing Koji Shindo when he had the chance (and the only reason I didn't have him do it was to not disrupt the canon events of YK2).

Koji declared them both traitors and told the rest of the NF that they should be killed on sight if encountered. (The NF grunts: well if YOU couldn't do it, boss,,,......)

Majima heard of this and some time after visited Yashiro and Zenshiro. He demanded they join the MF. It wasn't a request. The NF was still very powerful, and Yashiro had been Nishiki's trusted enforcer, hitman, and advisor. Majima wanted to see he what he could make of Nishiki's former "wolf"...if there was anything left to salvage, Yashiro understandably being not in a great mental health state at the time ;;;;

They accepted, not that they had a choice. They needed Majima's added protection from the NF. So both were firmly MF men by the time YK2 happened.

The NF now resented the MF because Majima had taken in "traitors"...but they were gone after YK3 anyway

the end

however.....there were still some in the Tojo, even up to the dissolution, who regarded Y & Z as traitors. ESPECIALLY since there was a long-standing rumor that Yashiro killed Chairman Sera (at Nishiki's order). None of them had the balls to do anything about it tho :)
