Fishfood's guide to Hansry fics
Here's a guide to my favorite Hansry fics! They are listed in no particular order within categories. I've devoured any fics I can get my hands on, and the number of tabs I have open to Ao3 in my phone is slightly embarrassing and starting to get messy. So I decided to collect all my favorites here. Category "Should be published as a paperback" Obviously we begin with the Lord Of the Distant Isle's trilogy by Stelladonie. It's a masterpiece. I devoured the two first books in less than a week, and @stelladonie is still publishing the third one. An absolute masterpiece, if you're going to read just one Hansry fic - this series is THE ONE. The subplots, the weave of everything. Next in this category we have For want of neutrality by Elisattack, it's technically part two of a two part series, but it stands well on it's own. This book is gut wrenching, heartbreaking, hopeful and just beautiful. The author has thoroughly done their research and it comes together beautifully. As of writing this, two chapters remain unpublished, but I still recommend. These two tug at my heart in a way I lack proper words for. Category I'm laughing so hard I cry/fully adorable Twice (but it wasn't my fault) by Borealis is silly, heartwarming and so damn funny. I was giggling and laughing so much my dog decided I'm annoying. Kolaches at the forge by MarlinGot is a short, yet emotional and warming read. Perfect for when you're stuck on public transportation or just need a smile before bed. But time makes you bolder by Brittnodo is a collection of works that just.. Makes sense. It's spearheaded by My voice will haunt you, it will give you everything. Drama, fuzzy feelings, giggles. I spilled hot tea over myself reading this. Also.. Dadzig<3 Noble Bastard by Creativeyam is a take on our boys as children, and while only six chapters have been published as of writing this, I am already drawn in and anxious to see what the tween versions can get up to! Heavier reads, more angst, yearing. All that good emotional trauma;
And I have Already Begun by Littleraeofsunshine has an incredible prose. It's detailed, poetic. It's filled with angst, and filth. A slowburn deep romance who will suck you in. The authors obsession with medieval sex culture and the Aurhturian legends is fantastic. This is stil an ongoing fic.
Penumbra by reformedwolfgrl is still in it's early days, but oh Hans<3 MY DARLING. Hollow Kin by Titlark is ongoing, but I've already cried at most chapters. I'm absolutely stunned by what's been published so far. Much like For Want of Neutrality and Lord of the distant isle's, it's working many strings in this weave of what will be a beautiful story. Titlark has also written We Who Waited , which is an emotional fucking trauma. I can't describe it any other way. Highly recommend having tissues nearby. The Shapes of Loss by xgraciela holds a special place in my heart. It deals with grief in a beautiful way, tissues are required for this one too. Xgraciela manages to put words on the grief after losing your partner in a relatable way, and it pulls at everything in your soul. I love this one. It's ongoing. Other notable mentions(or; I'm not sure how to categorise these) A bit of sacrifice by MessorAnimarum is an ongoing "enemies to friends" situation. Having the boys team up with Erik? Oh it defiantly presents some challenges. Hans jealous? Pft. Never. It's an entertaining read for certain. In some other realm (you are waiting for me) by eldritchcow offers a capable Hans, and time loops. It's ongoing and I'm frequently checking for updates! Want smut? A lot of it? This is the one: Cras amet qui nunquam; quique amavit, cras amet by AGildedTriptych
I'm afraid I've missed some, but these are the ones that eat my mind.
