"Any mix-ins?" He asks the rest of the team as he starts moving around the kitchen. "Only the sweetest," Tommy teases, sitting down at the table along with Addie. They both have computers with them and a stack of paperwork. Reese and Emi join them, but their attention is on their phones. Still, Emi feigns a gagging sound, earning her a kick under the table from Reese as the shorter girl throws a smile in Evan and Tommy's directions. "So mustard in Emi's pancakes," Evan comments. "Bananas in Tommy's, blueberries in Cap's," he states out loud. "Chocolate chips for me." "Buckley you already brought cupcakes," Addie comments as she slides her glasses on, staring at her computer. "Do you need that much sugar in the morning?" "The real question is does he need that much sugar in one hour," Tommy adds, flipping open one of the folders in front of him. - Evan Buckley leaves the 118 and transfers to Harbor in the midst of his still-messy situationship with Tommy and struggles with his loved ones, only to find a new home.
falling down like pieces into place chapters: 2/? rating: e warnings: n/a
He looks up, sees the balcony doors less than ten feet in front of him. How did he get on the ground? His chest hurts. “Evan? Evan!?” He groans, wincing at the pain in his chest from the smoke. He tries to cough, but that doesn’t seem to help much. “Come on, Evan, open your eyes.” It feels impossible, and he winces against the struggle, but he manages to get them open to half-slits, sees the vague outline of a helmet and oxygen mask in front of him. He tries to talk, but it mostly come out as a gurgled moan as his fingers sluggishly brush over the plastic of the mask on the firefighter above him. “God damn it, I need assistance up in 320! One occupant, barely responsive and injured. Going to need immediate transport.” The voice gets suddenly clearer halfway through the statement, and Evan tries to force his eyes open, recognizing that tone immediately. But then, the mask is being pressed down over his nose and mouth, and even though he’s weak, the sudden gush of clear, fresh air is a godsend to his lungs. “T…T…” “I’m here, baby,” Tommy tells him. “Just breathe. I’m gonna get you out of here.”
i just wanna hear you (say goodnight) chapters 2/? rating: e pairing: evan/sal/tommy
This was not something Evan expected—a version of his life where he gets to have two. Certainly, there had been suggestions in the past thrown toward him that if it was going to happen, it would be Eddie. Except, Eddie is in Texas, and he’s never once framed their relationship in that form. But after the breakup, he’d eventually had to force himself to get out. He’d met a guy at a dive one night: moping, sad, a little cock-drunk, and touch-hungry. A few beers in, he’d let the man take him home and to bed, thinking it would be a one-off, just to get his mind off of things. Except, one night going three rounds turned into two, and then three, and eventually, it was just this thing. He never got over Tommy in the midst of it, but the other man didn’t seem to mind. He was clearly still caught up in something of his own, and they continued to use each other without really commenting on what was actually happening. Except… Evan also never really let himself think about how, if someone could rival what Tommy did for him in bed, it was Sal. If someone could make him feel something other than TommyTommyTommy, it was Sal. It was Sal.
Know You Like That chapters: 3/? Rating: E Warnings: n/a
Four years in the future, Evan Buckley has two kids that he's learning to parent alone. Tommy Kinard has a daughter of his own, and a happenstance playdate brings old feelings to the surface. OR “Did you…” Evan pauses, scratching the side of his head nervously. “I mean, were you ever with-…was there ever…?” Tommy looks up at him, and there’s the hint of the sadness that had been on his face all those years ago in the kitchen of the loft. “No,” he admits quietly. Kinleigh coos, wiggling in his arm, and looks back down at her, unable to stop the smile that crosses his face. “No, I never- I mean I still-…no.” Evan nods, continuing to watch the other man as he feeds Kinleigh. He desperately wants to take a picture, to freeze this moment, but he knows that would be overstepping, asking too much. Minutes pass in silence that Evan tries to fill by wiping down the counter and looking at the pre-made menu on the fridge that’s more for Layla than himself. He’s still staring at it, trying to figure out what to do next when Tommy’s voice cuts through his thoughts. “I thought you would have.”
it's gonna be alright (piece by piece) (aka aneurysm fic) chapters: 6/10-ish(?) Rating: E Warnings: n/a
“Chest pain is not a joke, Evan,” Tommy remarks, anger clear in his voice, though Evan knows well enough that it’s from panic more than he’s actually mad at him. “Didn’t say it was, Tom,” he rasps as his fiancé slides his jeans up his calves and then reaches for Evan's forearms to help him stand so that he can pull his pants back on. - Or, three years after being struck by lightning, Evan Buckley faces another side effect: an aortic aneurysm.

"Maybe there’s something about tangibility, about holding the real thing versus just the idea of it, but it cracks something open in him that hasn’t existed in a long time. Because all of a sudden, he can’t imagine not having this. Not getting to see Evan like this, every day. And it’s barely been thirty seconds." - In March 2025, with plans to propose, Tommy realizes Evan wants kids. the problem is, Tommy doesn't. In November of the same year, in a happenstance exchange, he meets their baby girl. (OR, we take a trip through a dual timeline in which the idea and reality of having kids drives Evan and Tommy apart, and then brings them back together.)

“You’re not even paying attention right now,” he growls. “Look, Eddie,” Evan tries, lifting his hands up in surrender. Eddie’s eyes trail from his eyes down to his lips, his chest, and then back up at him, and Evan doesn’t like the way it feels. Something about the entire moment feels uncomfortable to him. Eddie sets the bowl on the counter and puts his hands on Evan’s ribs, pushing him back towards the fridge. “Eddie, man, what’re you doing,” Evan stammers nervously.
