No, but that’s exactly something that should be put in a museum.
Imagine seeing this two, three, eight hundred years after the fact. Imagine this little girl through centuries of time holding up her hand to show you her most precious rock. It’s potent enough now, this intimate knowledge of a complete stranger, this tiny insight into what was explained to her and what she thought was important and who listened to her long enough to let you see it, but imagine centuries in the future. Imagine this little bit of rock that looks like every other bit of rock, with no context and no explanation to it. And then imagine finding/seeing this little sign, and realising that it was Bethan’s rock. That it was a rock that a little girl loved the look of , and picked up, and carried around with her, and when it was explained to her that museums were places where precious things were shown so that other people could see and enjoy them, the precious thing she wanted them to show, that she wanted to show you, was this rock.
This is what material history is. These windows through time into a person’s life and beliefs and mundane treasures, these bridges across centuries where a child a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand years ago can show you her favourite rock.
That is, in so many ways, what museums are for. And well done them for following through.
can't just leave that in the tags
My favorite picture in the Barnes Foundation was a drawing given to Mr. Barnes by his artist friend's daughter, so he could have another piece of art to display.
Two Figures- Sphinx, by Lea Glackens
I finally watched The Sound of Music and like I get it now, I get it.
It’s a beautiful two hour love story of a strict man finally opening his heart again and then a fifty minute public service announcement to hate the nazis. Brilliant.
You’re not wrong there…
Reblogging this version cuz those two gifs show the sexiest duality a man can have.
2 things a man should do
Look at me like he can’t believe I exist
Hate nazis
$13,000 of course is only for insured, but even if you spread those costs over uninsured it’s about $10,000 per capita, which is $3.4 trillion per year. Not only are we already paying enough for universal healthcare (for everyone) but actually universal healthcare could be a lot less expensive because all the overhead for billing etc could be done away with.

MAGA thinks Nazis are good people and want every Confederate image/statue restored.
You can't take anything they say seriously.
Reminder.
This is what the shooter looks like.
Gray jacket. Light gray backpack.
This is what the apparent suspect looked like the same day at Starbucks.
Green/brown jacket and black back pack
Notice lack of unibrow.
Luigi day of arrest.
Unibrow present and stubble on face/neck.
Why is this important? Because Starbucks guy doesn't have those.
Which leads me to perp walk luigi.
"Oh they must have a great barber lmaooo" no. Stop joking for a second. No one gets this treatment so why him? Because they are trying to make him look like the Starbucks perp. They think we are dumb and will forget shooter Mcgee doesn't look anything like Starbuck boy.
Luigi said evidence was planted on him like the gun and the manifesto.
I believe this because the manifesto praises the efforts of the policemen on like page one. Like they couldn't even not suck their own dicks for 3 seconds to plant compelling evidence.
Do not let these people fool you. Luigi did not do this. Even though it's funny, even though he's hot even though <insert myriad of excuses I've heard here>. Do not let them get away with brainwashing you into believing he did it even if you agree with what happened.
I'm pro UHC shooter.
I'm pro luigi being released because hes innocent.
I also saw a post advocating for not referring to the UHC shooter by the name Luigi, even when you're making memes, because what that does is presume guilt and we're supposed to presume innocence.

I don't care if you can't draw well, I don't care if you can't write well, I don't care if you just really really want to talk to your favorite fictional character but don't want to RP with a real person because you have social anxiety or whatever
If you're still regularly using generative ai, chatgpt or midjourney or character.ai or literally whatever the fuck, im personally blaming you when my utility prices start going up.
Why would utility prices go up because of ai?
(I am not defending the usage of generative AI/ChatGPT/Character.ai etc etc i am very much against it - I am just curious as to the correlation between using it and utility price surge please don't come at me this is a genuine question)
Happy to help.
ChatGPT uses so much energy that the US is literally reversing course on coal and gas usage to make up for it. In Santa Clara, for example, data centers used 60% of the ENTIRE CITY'S electricity.
ChatGPT uses 1-3 bottles of water for cooling for every query you put into it. This is FRESH WATER, which is evaporated and eventually mostly returns to the ocean, effectively removing a lot of it from our already dwindling fresh water supply on the planet. It also consumes 17 THOUSAND TIMES more electricity than the average American home.
The AI boom wastes so much electricity that we are very immediately risking US cities having to have rolling blackouts just to keep up with the energy demands, as early as NEXT YEAR
Gen AI's water usage is projected to hit 6.6 BILLION meters cubed by 2027
More AI use = more data centers = power drain on local cities = gas, electricity, and water utility prices rise because all of our resources are being funneled into a machine that makes garbage

^what he said
"One doesn't need to make things unnecessarily complicated at the outset. He who raises his right arm at a slant forcefully and repeatedly while standing on a political stage at a political speech in front of a partially extreme right public is performing the Hitler salute. There is no need for 'allegedly' or 'similar' or 'debated'. The gesture speak for itself, it is documented on video. Whoever then wants to reinterpret it, whoever doesn't want to see (i.e., refuses to recognize) the Hitler salute, does so on their own behalf."
(sorry I am really bad at translating but this is roughly what it says, for my non-German speaking mutuals)
To anyone wondering if it's worth it to tear down fascist posters or whatever. I spent a few months last year engaged in silent battle with another student at my school who was putting anti trans stickers up everywhere. I had it down to a system where every night I would walk the five block radius they went up in, and tear down all the ones I could reach, and use a stick to put duct tape over the others. Like, within hours of the stickers going up, I would have already purged the whole zone. I knew the basic schedule of whoever put them up based on when and where the stickers appeared. I probably could have found them in person if I'd wanted to. And I told all my classmates and friends what the stickers looked like and got them to rip them down too. And after a few months of this, the stickers slowed, and then stopped forever.
My point is, a lot of this fashy or right wing stuff is one local weirdo. And if you pay attention, and do a little light organizing with your friends, you can basically make their efforts into a giant sisyphisean exercise in misery. You control your streets!
Remember: It costs money to keep printing those stickers, but ripping them down is free.

Can anyone confirm? Pretty amazing coincidences if accurate.
"Author Octavia E. Butler used "Make America Great Again" as the presidential campaign slogan for the dictator Andrew Steele Jarret in her 1998 dystopian novel, Parable of the Talents."
“Embrace diversity. Unite— Or be divided, robbed, ruled, killed By those who see you as prey. Embrace diversity Or be destroyed.” ― Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Sower
Read the book or listen to the audiobook. YES She predicted Fires in LA and a conservative sociopath who uses the phrase Make America Great Again. But the books are actually hopeful. The protagonist is a Black woman who prepares her own system to get through the bad times and starts a movement. She also predicted violence against the other, LGBTQ, people of color, and some white families too. She predicted religious bigots. She predicted coastline issues from climate change, which we are seeing and a collapse of America.
Octavia E. Butler studied and researched all the time with her writing. She was a deep thinker and shared those concerns even before the Parable series was written. When you read her private writings (all of her papers are at The Huntington Library), her mind was already understanding the trajectory even before she sold a book. Her being a Black woman who lived through white racist bullshit all her life prepared her to know that white/patriarchal/capitalist/anti-Black/religious/american terrorism is threaded through this culture of violence and oppression for generations. America is anti-human, anti-progressive, and this trickles down to the sciences that white racists now disavow as they aim to create chaos yet again.
Black people have been knowing this, especially Black women, so the ideas in "Parable of the Sower" and "Parable of the Talents" (and perhaps more in 'Parable of the Trickster" had she lived with better health in order to write the third book) are not new to us. The irony is, non-Black people are heeding the warnings now that shit affects them, too. The legacy of Black American history was already a dystopian, SF/horror nightmare for centuries. Octavia wasn't a Nostradamus, because white terrorist history is cyclical. All she had to do was look outside her window in Altadena, CA and write what she saw. But that's science fiction to non-Black people. Everyday life for us.
Thank God she did give us glimmers of hope in her work because that's how Black people always got over. Non-Black people never listen to us anyway, so good luck to them for the next 4 years. My people always stay ready for the fuckery. We expect it.
