I've been meaning to make a post talking about my stroke because y'all got bits and pieces of the recovery but I never actually told the story of HOW it went down and the thing is the type of stroke I had is usually the type young people have and since having mine i've now heard multiple stories of people under 40 having very similar strokes and the scary thing is, is that they didn't get help right away. Because you're young and healthy and sure you feel weird but it'll pass right? but it doesn't, and it gets worse, and by the time you get to the hospital (some people literally take days to go) the deficits are worse and recovery is harder.
so here's a super long post about strokes in general, and mine in particular/what I went through.

The problem with studying the deep ocean is that humans need light to look at things, the depths of the ocean are extremely dark, and what lives there is accustomed to spending most of its time in that darkness. So when we go down there with submersibles and turn on Big Lights to see, we invariably and dramatically alter what's going on, in the same way that it's generally difficult to observe the natural behaviors of terrestrial animals if you whip out a megaphone and shout HEY GUYS WHAT ARE YOU DOING at them first.
A humble snubnose eelpout on its way to the whale fall buffet when some nearby humans give it a quick, unintrusive study:
I put this in the comments but feel it needs a reblog- Check out some of Dr Edith Widder’s work on light in the deep sea! Among other things, she used the bioluminescence of stoplight fish to deduce wavelengths which most deep sea animals can’t perceive and used that to create light filters to be able to film with minimal disturbance! And that’s how we got 25 minutes of giant squid footage!!!!
i just got the "see where your blood has gone!" email from giving blood but it glitched and just showed me my current location. which. theyre not wrong. that is where most of my blood is
this is exactly how non kinsters sound when they jump into kink discussions to say "yeah! it's fine as long as you're all consenting adults!"
For this game of dodgeball, I will be specifically targeting the gayest and most autistic among you to eliminate.
Okay so normal rules then

I think its interesting how quickly youtube thumbnails progressed. The art of grabbing someones attention was mastered so fast by so many people, techniques usually reserved for use in slot machines are now used to have you to click on a video about how long a villagers dick is.
forgive me if this is irrelevant, but it also feels like these days every single youtuber somehow has a sponsorship with a small indie brand or is pushing a patreon or a nebula subscription, begging people for $5 a month for endless streams of the same half dozen types of shitty substack articles.
mhm, both stems from a need to turn “making video's” into something at all profitable/viable. however the thing im actually distressed about is how quickly we got to this point just from the principle of “attention = money” and the freedom in which many otherwise average people seem to exercise the ability to arrest attention purely for profit. and i think the point you made is more of an attempt from video creators to somehow break from that first system into... the same system but the attention (therefore money) is coming from less people but who have cash to spare. I feel like that it will end up being the dominant way to get paid on youtube eventually besides the average sponsorships. obviously they added monthly payment features integrated directly into youtube so they atleast see it as a clear next step to turn attention into money. Im sympathetic towards the folks just trying to get paid someway they can find tolerable but that might be putting to much good faith on youtubers.
I think I know what you mean. This is a youtube meteorologist that I really like, I think his reporting is comprehensive and relatively short, but every single one of his video thumbnails is like this. Bold threatening text, big arrow, certain region highlighted as the "danger zone". It hits the primal fear part of your brain that wants to survive, but most of the time it's exaggerated for clicks.
The few times that it's not exaggerated... you might miss because the thumbnail for "severe weather, just don't go outside for an hour or two" is the same as "dangerous weather, seek shelter or begin evacuations now"
