“Subverting” Catholic art? Oh, okay. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You log onto the internet and you post about how “Wound of Christ” from Psalter and Prayer Book of Bonne de Luxembourg, attributed to Jean le Noir, c.1349, for instance, looks like a vulva because you're trying to tell the world that you enjoy Catholic art and imagery in an alternative, queer, risqué way that challenges Christian beliefs. But what you don't know is that that stigma isn’t just a vulva. It's not just a mandorla. It's not just yonic. It's actually intentionally erotic. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that around 1297, Saint Angela of Foligno experienced a vision of Christ himself, who called her to put her mouth to the wound in his side and lick the freshly flowing blood. And then I think it was Saint Catherine of Siena who drank blood and a clear liquid from the wound before receiving a ring made from Christ’s foreskin? And then graphically erotic encounters with the side wound of Christ quickly showed up in the writings of eight different mystics. And then the yonic interpretation of the stigmata filtered down through the illuminated manuscripts and then trickled on down into some pseudo-intellectual corner of the internet…where you, no doubt, fished it out of some Pinterest board. However, that interpretation represents hundreds of years and countless visions of religious ecstasy. And it's sort of comical how you think that you've come up with an idea that exempts you from Christian theology when, in fact…you're posting an image that was sexualized for you by the very Medieval saints you think you’re so different than…from “subverted” Catholic art.

"I want my media to be historically accurate"
Cool, so you want natural fiber costumes with no/nuanced corset slander, people wearing colors, historical hairstyles, people wearing hats or headcoverings and long sleeves outside during the day, no potatoes or pumpkins in pre-columbian Europe, actors with textured skin and wrinkles, minimal makeup, consulting HEMA groups and weapons scholars for all the weapons and fight scenes, a good soundtrack that includes traditional instruments?
Oh, you mean you want 100% white people. Even in crowd scenes in port cities. There's a different word for that.
Many thanks

have you seen my berry its about 1 inch tall and 1 inch wide and 1 inch long
i've been pondering a lot about the recent discourse surrounding accusations of sexual violence and misconduct and i think people really need to start thinking about how they would react if someone they knew and had a positive image of was accused of doing Something Bad(tm) - not celebrities bc it's easy to get caught up in worship and parasociality, but someone they knew personally, maybe a coworker or a family member or a friend/acquaintance
i think most of us try to surround ourselves with people we think are Good(tm) (people whose values align with ours, people we enjoy spending time with, people we have things in common with) so obviously it's going to be shocking when we find out that someone we know is supposedly capable of hurting others.
it's easy to view sexual violence (the main example i'm using due to its pervasiveness) on a case by case basis, as an act removed from the mainstream, as "something only Bad People(tm) do" etc etc, when that's simply not the case - look at the statistics, look at the fact that we're living in a heteropatriarchal society that aids and abets it. "i know/like this person, and as a Good Person(tm) who associates with them i don't think they could have done this" - this is how you get the cognitive dissonance of being a person who normally disproves of sexual violence defending an offender, mothers defending their sons, girlfriends standing by their boyfriends.

imo the term "walkable" in "walkable cities" should be understood to mean "wheelchair accessible" as well, not just literally "possible to walk in". the act of walking in a city doesn't automatically make it walkable
also "walkable to people who can't walk far all at once" by having things like shaded benches, water fountains, public restrooms, etc readily available.
oh my god it hurts
and it's going to hurt forever
every now and then I see people passing screencaps of these posts around, and in the months after I made this post there were people checking in on me assuming I was going through grief or depression or something
to set the record straight, the context is that I had covid and was bleeding from my throat and lungs, but for some ungodly reason, I was feverishly driven to drink lemonade and kept screaming and writhing because I was pouring fizzy lemon juice on open throat wounds
