Ten of Swords
First up: I’m so sorry. He is my favourite character and this card hurts me as well. But it fits so well! The Ten of Swords is about backstabbing, betrayal and about failure, collapse, severing ties, goodbyes. It suggest an inevitable end that comes unexpected. When you get the card, it can mean that you might be the victim of someone’s betrayal. I think you see why I put Cora here. In a way both brothers betrayed each other. Rosinante failed his mission of taking down Doflamingo and payed the price for it. He died and Law lost the only person that cared about him at that moment. It was unexpected to him, but and inevitable confrontation for the brothers. The card is also about letting go and accepting your fate. But remember the Death card? I like Law on that card because Deaths aspects of reflection and accepting change is also part of the Ten of Swords. That if you are at the bottom, it can only go up from there.

I’m so proud of senshi for making it so far in the tumblr sexyman poll. I think it’s so beautiful that tumblr has reached a point where a short fat hairy bearded man is the pinnacle of sexuality for a large swath of this userbase. it’s like when you see before & after pictures of a rainforest recovering from deforestation. nature is healing and we can fight god
I hope he wins so someone will have to explain to ryoko kui what a tumblr sexyman is
I have to say I forgot the onceler’s thing was cutting down trees when I made my metaphor.

Happy tenth anniversary to this comic. I just learned that it’s still being shared constantly on Tumblr. I don’t totally understand why people like it so much, but I like it too.

This Dan Piraro comic always makes me cry.
it does suck that the government defunded PBS but it's also so fucking funny that now that they don't take uncle sam's slavery dollars they're running videos like "How america's foundation was built on genocide"
no more being polite about it fuck the USA

and while I'm here I'll plug some other channels because PBS does solid work. also, iirc they are (...were? I'm not actually sure what applies to them now that they've been defunded) legally required to include captions and they actually do that, so you won't run into auto-generated nonsense.
I haven't checked out PBS Documentaries yet, but they have some stuff tackling similar topics. (I am adding things to my watchlist as we speak.) channel link here.

aaand while we're talking about defunded USA public media that doesn't pull punches when critiquing our history and government, I am once again going to plug a couple NPR podcasts. Throughline does deep-dives on history, culture, laws, and so on (link here); I'm especially partial to their We the People miniseries, which covers our rights from the Amendments. Code Switch covers culture, focusing on race and minority groups, and has been doing some especially good coverage on what the Trump administration's fuckery means on a practical level (link here). (these aren't the only NPR podcasts that talk about this stuff, but they're the big ones afaik.)
Throughline is a time machine. Each episode, we travel beyond the headlines to answer the question, "How did we get here?" We use sound and

The 2026 Gender Census is now open!
[ survey.gendercensus.com ]
The 13th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th August 2026.
It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.
After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.
If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful!
Survey URL: https://survey.gendercensus.com
The survey is open to anyone anywhere who speaks English and feels that the gender binary doesn’t fully describe their experience of themselves and their gender(s) or lack thereof.
Thank you so much!
[ Link to survey ]
The survey has been open for about 7.5 hours, and there have been about 2,500 responses so far. :)
I haven't sent out the mailing list email yet, but I'm about to get to that. That usually bumps things up significantly... 😰
In the mean time, please enjoy this public spreadsheet of incoming participation statistics!
