I can never truly be happy with Adrinette because Marinette has so many people who know all sides of her. Kagami, Felix, Luka, and they all accept her for who she is. Adrien, by virtue of how the show is structured, cannot know everything about her. And it's not just that they know she's Ladybug. It's the fact that they know (at least Luka knew for a minute) her darkest secret, which is what she hid for Adrien. And they all still care about her.

THIS!!! This is what I've been trying to verbalize about what makes this show feel so wrong. Adrien and Marinette can't truly be partners until they fully know each other, and right now, not only do they not know each others' secret identities, but they both have people in their lives who know their secret identities, have shown implicit or explicit romantic attraction towards them, and would accommodate for said secret identities in their relationship. It's not the only way I feel the show writers have let us down, but it is a vital one. I would understand if they had stuck with major miscommunication at the beginning of Adrienette's relationship, then having the reveal late season five, then showing a committed effort from both sides to communicate after the finale (with some mistakes and fights as they learn (yes, Marinette will share and process her Cat Blanc, maybe Adrien gets a dose of Antibug as well)), but above all else THEY ARE A TEAM! EQUAL PARTNERS! A DYNAMIC DUO! This is supposed to be the keystone of the series and yet we haven't truly seen this in the show, except maybe a few times in the early seasons after they actually started being partners rather than unwilling coworkers. Not only has doubling down on the secret identities destroyed a chance for healthy Adrienette (still possible, but I don't trust the writers to handle any of this in a way that could be interpreted as healthy), but also undermines some of the fundamental themes of the show. It is also actively hurting not only Adrien and Marinette, but most, if not all, of their friends as well.

Dang it, this is making me want to go back to my Rewritten Miraculous project.

#miraculous ladybug #Also I want to make it clear that I do not entirely blame Marinette for her actions as #1) She is a fifteen(ish) year old girl who has experienced The Horrors and holds The Fate of the Universe on her shoulders #She is also intensely OCD coded but that's a separate conversation #2) The writers' room are truly the ones in charge and you can see that very clearly in the show and again I don't trust them #3) The only two adults Marinette has told about ANY of this since Master Fu died are a monk out of time traveling the world rather than hel #Her and Natalie who was Gabriel's accomplice and has a history of manipulating Marinette #I'm not saying she didn't have a change of heart #But that woman should not be Marinette's only trusted adult while saving the universe navigating her second serious romantic relationship #And still experiencing bullying on par with psychological warfare from Lila #anyways yeah #I have feelings about this #Can you tell
