the american south is the most racially diverse and poorest region of the united states, and any political sentiment that treats the south is stupid or expendable is inherently racist and classist. a lot of y'all are racist and classist. the south is also the heart of american culture. argue with a wall. you cannot deny that everybody in the entire world does not emulate artists from atlanta. there is vested interest in keeping the south poor and uneducated BECAUSE this is the most racially diverse region in this country. if you actually give a fuck about progress, you would fight for the south, not mock us.

I don't mean to be pushy at all since it's your work but I am curious to know why you deleted your haalingham space fic? It was so good.

not pushy at all!! it’s not deleted, it’s just in a hidden collection haha! sometimes (especially if a fic gets more popular than i expect) i get a bit overwhelmed juggling WIPs, so i put it in hiding just to like, not look at it 😭 (i love salient shield, but the amount of traction it’s getting is a lot, and i say that lovingly)

with the space au, it was really spontaneous off the cuff writing, but unlike the half-viking au, it doesn’t have a through line i can follow plot-wise yet. many of the ideas are floating in that first chapter, but i gotta tether them to something solid, if you get what i’m saying. but i’m glad it was well received, i think i’ll put it back up :)

Just a reminder that the writers' room is not all white and that the actors are people of colour who have years of experience in both acting and writing. They're not puppets being forced to say lines, they are a part of the creative process. We have seen them be uncomfortable with certain things, and we have seen that that discomfort was intentional and later addressed. Sam was so angry at the way Magnus was potrayed at first that he threw his laptop, only to then find out it was exactly how he was meant to feel, because the truth was later revealed to be much worse than what Lestat was pretending. Same with Louis reading the diary - Jacob was uncomfortable, Delainey was angry, and that came to head in the last episode. These actors have a say in their lines, they give feedback, they are not just standing on marks and reciting lines.

i think some of you are forgetting far too often that jacob anderson, as much as i adore him, is a black british man. that is a fundamentally different cultural experience from being black american, particularly if you're from the deep south like i am.

after spending the last four years living in london, i can tell you firsthand that there are things some black europeans—and europeans more broadly—genuinely do not recognize as anti-black in the way black americans do. i've had more than one conversation where i've had to stop people from dismissing or minimizing experiences that, to me, were obviously racist.

so no, i don't think jacob or delainey—again, two people i adore—being comfortable with certain creative choices automatically means those choices are beyond criticism or no longer carry racial implications for other black people.

and if you're white, particularly if you're not american, i don't need you telling black american viewers that we should be grateful for the bare minimum when it comes to representation. nor do you get to decide what is or isn't anti-black to us. those conversations belong to the people who actually live those experiences.

omg this is not a bother!!! yes, i’m absolutely continuing the dune AU! sometimes i hit roadblocks in how i want to write things because i do plan, but when i actually sit down to write things come out different. so at the moment it’s just me trying to figure out the best way for the story to go!

but never fear: it will get finished :) it’s a fic that’s near and dear to my heart not just because of how popular it’s gotten, but because i feel like i put a lottt of effort into it! <3
