HEHEHE GIGGLES DELIGHTEDLY, I'd love to share some fun facts/considerations I was thinking of while I was scriptwriting/drawing! ^^ Looooong yap under the cut
First off, some fun facts!
The comic was originally estimated to be only 3 parts! Crazy how it blew up into what it is now lmao 😭😭 (Tho not my first rodeo since I have a tendency to blow up my scripts for comic projects I get rly into if left unchecked - Looking at the 80 page and 50 page comics I spedran for uni LMAO)
Also the first time I've done a full colour long-length comic! I'm intentionally very messy/loose with my current style so as to not die lol 💔💔 But I love using gradients and outlines for my art since I have a sorta low contrast colouring style
As for inspirations!
This whole thing started maybe a week after I watched eps 10 for the first time and when I was listening to "Tonight you belong to me" and "My Gal". In my mind I knew I wanted a scene where Purple was running through the skeld and Green was chasing them until they were cornered in the freezer, there were some vague ideas that Green was wounded in some way and I specifically had the phrase "I'll make us match" in my mind that I really wanted to incorporate somewhere hehe. So essentially I had the climax of the story in my mind at first and everything before that was build up to make it have a lot more impact 👀
The very first line I wrote for my first draft was "You're smart but not smart enough. You're right about a lot of things, but not enough."
So part 1-2 was set up with me digging into how Surprisingly close Purple can be to the answer and how Green felt about it. (I rewatched the show a couple of times and made like a whole list and everything abt the things Purple was proactive in doing to catch the murderer. They were driving a lot of the plot points!)
My part 3 outline was Red gets killed, and then Green corners Purple in the freezer and the comic ends. It sounds simple enough until I fleshed out the script and thought "man... The pacing is kinda ass ngl 😭" and that's how I let Green yap for 22 more comic pages HAHAHAHSH head in hands. I'm really glad I did revise the script so many times tho bc it's genuinely up there on my fav comic projects I've done now ❤ Very fun and I think it conveys the vision I had in my head enough ^^
Anyways, onto characterization/plot points inspo!
A lot of my Green characterization was inspired by @/sincerelysamedt's camworm posts! Also their post about Green being freaky with tears inspired a lot of the salt and tears imagery in my teaser art and part 5 lol
Also TW for graphic medical trauma (Seriously, this is quite heavy. Please heed the tags!), the fic "The making of a cameraworm" by Spacehead454 on ao3 inspired the mention of surgery when Green wanted to "return the favor" of the wound to Purple.
I intentionally cut it before Green could make true on that promise as my philosophy for this comic is that the kind of horror I want to instill is the one where the reader is left to their imagination ^^
Following that point, I've talked abt this before but my main inspiration for the red stew replacing the imagery of Red getting their head bashed to the ground is from my fav Jdrama called Unnatural! (It's so fucking good I wanna gush abt it wherever I can GRRRRR)
Also fun fact, the cannibalism interpretation from the stew is unintentional! I say this lovingly because I love your brains camworms community, you're so much smarter than me sometimes ❤❤ (The red stew in my teaser illustrations was initially just a call back to part 3 hahah. Also dropping this art by warning-heckboop <33)
There's probably a bit more fun facts but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head hahah ^^
Purple has been highlighted in blue the whole comic except when they hug Green and their highlight is suddenly red...is that intentional

Yes it's absolutely intentional ❤ If you see in the "It hurts" Illustration, I also have a gradient on Purp's outline that goes from blue to red as a foreshadowing to part 5 hahah
Even though this was the 2nd time purple has tried hurting Green, this time it's done so... Personally, I wanna say through the hug. In this AU, I wrote Green finding a sick sort of euphoria at being hurt back. They feel reciprocation and that makes them so happy as they also feel Purple is starting to understand the way they think. ("That's the point")
I love when they toe the line between affection and bloodlust and it's something I tried to put emphasis on in this interpretation of camworms 😋

So I first got into Among Us by watching the "Mongy Monday" series that a bunch of streamers do and post on YouTube, and a particular quote from it came back to me while reading your final part that just felt oh so perfect:
HYPOTHETICALLY if green started crying would it hurt them
GOOD QUESTION HAHAHAHAHDJ 😭😭
Hmm seeing as their biology changes a lot with the infection, maybe their tears wouldn't be mixed with the compounds that make up salt? I'm not smart enough to come up w an answer but handwaves something something they cry just some vague liquid lol
And that wraps up my cameraworm comic! Thank you so much for reading and analyzing and following the making of this comic!! While it's not perfect and it took a While, I'm grateful you all stuck around to see how this project ends ❤
I wanna take a minute and really appreciate these three pieces (including the other two meant to go with this art) because I really really love the symbolism and details!!
Like the twisted and ironic act of communion!! the candles on Purple's side being lit up, signifying their mortality, and the contrast of Green's unlit (though seemingly being previously used/blown out) candles. Purple's phone in the second piece, basically mocking them because who are they gonna call for help! Comms are still down! And the fact they're in the kitchen, somewhere that's meant to be a place of connection and warmth. And in each of the pieces there is a motif of grapes which have biblical/religious connections as well, more specifically to abundance and wine (which the latter is also seen in the first piece, though the wine is LITERAL blood,) as if Green both worships Purple to a certain extent or Green has that sort of complex about themself.
AND!!! The window of space in the background of the first piece frames Green! Purple can see freedom behind them, only blocked off by Green. Even more of a stretch maybe, but it could also be that Green is meant to be their escape somehow. Like foreshadowing? Maybe?
And lastly. THEIR TEARS ARE GOING INTO THE SOUP!! In the first two pieces, along with Green, the bowls were outlined red as a warning, but in this piece it's no longer a danger. Purple you will be saved! Hopefully 😅
