Woah anon. Your definitely entitled to your opinion, and they’re more than welcome here, but let’s be a little more respectful with the language we use, huh? Some people really do dig that ship, so just to respect what they like, let’s stay away from using phrases like “makes me want to puke.”

THAT SAID, I agree, I could never see that ship sailing past a dock. I don’t see the romantic chemistry either, but I like the idea of them slowly becoming close friends over time!

If you weren’t so busy ranting about how Koenma is totally straight and would never sully himself by being gay, “Anonymous,” you might be able to see that Yuusuke and Koenma do have a lot of chemistry. 

People who aren’t homophobic can see that Yuusuke demonstrates his affection for others through his aggressiveness. He’s like this with Kazuma, he’s like this with Keiko, he’s like this with Hiei. Kurama seems to be the only person that he doesn’t get all aggressive with. (But that’s another discussion for another day.)

Relationship wise, Koenma chose Yuusuke over his own father. And, for Yuusuke, Koenma was there for him when he first became mazoku. In a time when Yuusuke had just lost his humanity, the first thing that happened was the SDF turning against him, declaring that he needed to be put down, and Koenma was there. 

I have to back Paris sempai up on the fact that there is certainly a loooot more het ships with way less justification, and yet, they aren’t being given this same… amount of hate? I can’t tell if it’s just onespecificpersonconstantlyhatingonthemsomuch or if it’s just plain homophobia in the fandom, because it makes no sense to me. Ya guys know I love and respect every ship and character, but there are ships like Botan x… honestly any guy who isn’t Koenma/Yusuke, has way less content and less chemistry than Koenma x Yusuke does. People ship Touya and Yukina sometimes, and they never even interact. Yet, so much hate is being thrown at this gay ship, and the reaction to the het ones is usually “not my thing/too gay for it/oh interesting” not.. this vehement hate. 

It’s really surprising to me, as someone new to this fandom (though not fandom in general) how much homophobia I see. People like to backtrack and be like, “Oh! I’m not homophobic, I just like literally any het ship better!” 

The fact that there are known homophobes, racists, TERFs and SWERFs in this fandom is utterly shocking to me. Like, this is a Togashi property? There’s canon gay characters? Canon trans characters? Canon mixing of races? And then we get jackasses standing up and loudly proclaiming their hate and then... silence, from the community.

Would also like to add that Koenma is a complex character and doesn’t deserve to be shat on by over-simplifying his relationship to Yuusuke (and entire character) to just kinda rolling his eyes and scolding Yuusuke like a brother.

Koenma lost his family, position and freedom for Yuusuke. He provided Yuusuke with the turning point in his life that actually made it worth living. Yuusuke showed to him that standing up for what he believes in is more important than the rules and his duties.

How is shipping anyone considered “lazy?” I’m really confused about that. And I also disagree!!

But nonnyyyyyyyyy I wanna see all the beautiful art!

- don’t knee jerk delete. I know it’s tempting to peace out immediately but hang on and do the other steps first. Out right ghosting and erasing everything is how fandoms die.

- archive everything on your blog you want to keep

- tell your followers how they can archive and keep your work too. A lot of fic and art were only saved from ff.net and lj because other people saved it first. If you’re cool with other people saving your work for them to personally keep, let them know this. You can absolutely discourage reposting but I really do highly recommend you allow people to personally save fic and art they like and are worried will disappear forever. Digital Dark Ages are a real thing.

- tell people where you’re jumping ship to. Give links. Keep that info up, even if you’ve left the site.

- go through who you follow and find out where else you can follow them. Save their work if they’ll allow it. It’s tedious as hell but if you want to keep up with people on here clicking on their page to check in is the best way to do it.
