This is what Rasputin would've wanted.
I feel like I'm being seduced like one of those fancy rainforest birds
is it working
Yes
romeo and juliet (act one, scene five) but gay and at the skatepark
[ID: a pen and marker comic with three square pages. In the first page Romeo, a guy with neck-length ginger hair and blue eyes, says "What dude is that / which doth enrich the half of yonder pipe?". He's standing next to the Servingman, a person with a blue knit cap, a black fringe and stubble and red eyes, and both of them are looking at Juliet rollerblading in the next panel in front of a starry night sky. Juliet is a dude with long red hair, red eyes and a septum piercing. He's wearing red rollerskates with a simplified three-colour rainbow between the wheels, a dark green helmet, gloves, knee and elbow pads, frayed camo trousers that show his hairy legs, and a loose grey tshirt. The Servingman shrugs.
The second page is divided into two horizontal panels. In the first Juliet is shown from below against the sky, mid-jump up one side of the pipe, with a streetlamp blazing above him. In a speech bubble Romeo says, "O, he doth teach the streetlamps to burn bright!". Below in the second panel, Romeo looks up wide-eyed and blushing against a pink background, saying, "Did my heart love 'til now? / I think the fuck NOT".
The third page is one big panel of Juliet, mid-landing at the side of the pipe with one leg folded up, hair flowing behind him. In a speech bubble Romeo continues: "For I ne'er saw true shreddage 'til this night". End ID]
i recognize that the sense of ânot deservingâ community is distorted / depressive thinking but i still feel it.
i also feel a powerful need to participate in activist work and few practical ways to do it. i feel like i donât deserve to seek community until i can meaningfully give back to that community, and that ability to give back is not really in my capacity right now.

i have some friends (and good ones that I am thankful for) but what I am missing is a sense of belonging and meaningful community, especially local community. how do i find that when i canât go to physical meetings?
a thought: i am very lonely and isolated right now. a lot of people probably are given the pandemic. i donât know what to do about it because socializing in the ways that are safe right now often doesnât make me feel any better.
feeling super disillusioned with social media right now but also have a desire to post my thoughts on the internet so here is a tumblr post for my ~2 followers
when the times get rough and I lose sight of the goal i just. reread âthe orangeâ by wendy cope again & remember. thatâs where Iâm going folks. sooner or later, whatever it takes.
At lunchtime I bought a huge orangeâ The size of it made us all laugh. I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Daveâ They got quarters and I had a half.
And that orange, it made me so happy, As ordinary things often do Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park. This is peace and contentment. Itâs new.
The rest of the day was quite easy. I did all the jobs on my list And enjoyed them and had some time over. I love you. Iâm glad I exist.

If youâre the kind of person who would do that, you never become Bezos in the first place.
My Dad owned a business my whole life. It was profitable, but it didnât expand. I ask him once why he never grew it, and he said itâs nearly impossible without climbing on someoneâs backâyour vendors, your customers, your employees. Particularly that last one. You donât wait until your business is big to be a good human being. The very first time you have to choose between your own profit and your employees health insurance, you choose the later. You give maternity leave even though the government doesnât make you. You dock your own salary to not lay people off during a recession. You have adequate staffing and reliable hours. Anybody who says you canât run a retail business on a normal, reasonable, predictable schedule you know in advance is full of shit. My Dad did it for 35 years (always have one more person than you think you need, and 98% of your staffing problems vanish). Itâs just not maximum profit. If you donât prioritize extracting profit from every corner of your business, you never become rich enough to give billions away.Â
(One of the things my father is proud of is that by the time he retired they hadnât needed to take a help wanted ad in 30 years. Turnover was low, and when a spot opened, referrals filled it.)
âIf you donât prioritize extracting profit from every corner of your business, you never become rich enough to give billions away.â
Yes, this. Capitalism incentivizes prioritizing profit over everything else.

i find it very telling that people are so ready to straight-up pathologize donald trump while mentioning his wealth and social status only in passing and almost never as the main reason for why heâs so persistently self-centered and disconnected from reality.
when you grow up rich youâre kind of by default disconnected from reality. you learn that you can just⌠make things happen. an expensive education? top-quality healthcare? a fancy seat on the plane? you just wave your credit card in the right direction AND IT HAPPENS. you get your way, every time, immediately, and to your exact specifications. youâre also immune to failure by default because if you fuck something up you can afford to start over, so even if you reach your 70s with a trail of financial disasters behind you, youâre still rich, so they canât have been that bad. youâre blind to your own incompetence. and youâre inevitably going to end up with very few, if any, genuine friends, especially if youâre inherently a bit of an asshole. instead youâll be surrounded by people pursuing their own agendas, who will tell you literally anything you want to hear: that youâre a genius, that everyone loves you, that you can successfully accomplish anything you set your mind to. which you totally can, of course, but because of your money, not your personal merit.
trump is not a pathological narcissist with the under-developed mind of a child and a half dozen other mental disorders experts have not yet reached a consensus about. heâs too used to being obscenely rich and likely never had a problem in his life he knew he couldnât solve by throwing enough money at it. and right now heâs angry that he canât use that to get his own way anymore.
like, thereâs enough stigma around mental illness without talking about it as if itâs the reason a rich entitled fuckhead is going to jump-start the nuclear apocalypse.
He also believes that âmaster raceâ bullshit.  He thinks rich white people are genetically superior.  This is a guy who has literally said he thinks success is genetic. Letâs be really explicit about this, most upperclass white people in the US do believe that bullshit that says they are genetically as well as morally superior to poor people and people of color.  Old school eugenics is still the norm among the wealthy in the US.  Trump isnât pushing eugenics by accident, heâs pushing eugenics because itâs what him and his buddies firmly believe. Â
And using ableism as the basis for attacking him isnât attacking his views and the ideas they rely on, itâs supporting them.
