I feel we don't talk enough about how Kazemaru Ichirouta was a 14 year old who, up until that point, had spent his entire first year in middle school running in the athletic club and the SECOND he was approached by that weird kid from the football club which didn't have enough members and that frankly no one in school gave a shit about he went "you know what? Life's about taking risks" and then went on to receive a ball to the face for said weird kid in his first ever match against fucking Teikouku Academy. AND AFTER THAT WHOLE ORDEAL he decided that he did, in fact, want to stay as a member for the football freaks. Athletism be damned.
No teenager has that level of commitment unless they have the fattest, most soul-crushing, world-spinning-off-its-axis crush on someone.
