kageyama really wanted them to taste how it is to be on the side of his enemy vs dominating as his pawns... nothing says abuse like "this is the pain you caused everyone by defying me."

Did you also remember that kageyama made the point to do this during the first round of the football frontier where he knew any recommended team (zeus) would be pitted against the seeded one (teikoku)? I just thought I should juggle your memory.

EDIT: wait FUCK. i just realized that the color difference (purple vs gray-ish) is because both of those are in kidou's perspective. while he only felt like the destruction was necessary (maybe even justified) in episode 1 (and may even feel some malice over it), he's destroyed and devastated in episode 17 which is presented by the grainy grayish pallete.
