A beautiful, peaceful field full of mice and other small prey animals. It is always dusk and a comfortable temperature. A waxing crescent moon hangs like a shed claw in the sky, watching over souls with steady silence. To enter the Lull is to enter a permanent state of calm.
A long grassy path stretching endlessly and flanked by two vast bodies of water. A soul will hardly be able to see their own paws due the density of the fog. Before fully crossing over, the dead must wait here for Fonn to find them.
It has become not only instinctual but a religious tradition to die alone. Dead cats who pass surrounded by loved ones spend a longer time wandering, undiscovered by Fonn, due to the energetic chaos in their surroundings.
The Coil is a realm of sweat and blood slick atop a pulsating terrain of flesh. Souls doomed here for eternity will, after many years, begin to fuse with their surroundings ā creating a living and screaming entity made of countless cats. Ceth watches over this realm. If youāre lucky, it will catch and devour you before you become part of the Coil.
Allmother Grimalkin is the mother of all felines or āgrims.ā She was massive with a broad prehistoric head. When her children die, she wraps herself around their bodies till they fade into her white pelt.
In the Lull, Allmother Grimalkin sits in the center of a vast sparsely wooded meadow as a gnarled, bony tree with branches spiraling from her skull like antlers. On passing breezes you may hear her whispering.
Sporting small black eyes and a pelted serpent body, Ceth is an untrustworthy entity who leads grims to eternal suffering. Ancient texts portray Ceth as in love with the Allmother. However, recent tellings push the idea it was always fundamentally opposed to her.
Bicolor Fonn (pronounced FAHN) is the first domestic cat. She is crafty and artistic, having created music after mimicking the ethereal calls of songbirds. With her chittering, she leads cats to an afterlife and watches over the Veil.
These bizarre, uncanny creatures are recent folklore to the clowdersā religion. Their cat-like bodies, typical at first glance, transition to a stark humanoid face with red eyes. Some may have corvid or bat wings. They are violent imps who reside in the Coil and, allegedly, rise to the surface of Earth to feed on the sickly.
