A little headcanon about Kazemaru Ichirouta/Nathan Swift and Edgar Valtinas
Fellas... Here me out. I have so much to say about Kazemaru/Nathan and Edgar. Alright... They're relatives. Let me explain.
In my opinion, they're half-brothers. They're really similar, but with some details changing, like the color of their eyes, their height, their personality. Also, Edgar is thirteen and Kazemaru/Nathan is twelve, they're a year apart. Moreover, Edgar is English and Kazemaru/Nathan is Japanese. So... Here comes my explanation with a little backstory based on my gut feeling!
Edgar and Kazemaru/Nathan share the same mother but not the same father. Edgar's dad is an British diplomat, who left after his son's birth, and Kazemaru/Nathan's dad is a Japanese man. He was the one who stayed by the mother's side.
The two boys lived under the same roof until they respectively turned six and five. To be honest, the atmosphere at home was kinda heavy. Edgar was really mean to Kazemaru/Nathan, because he couldn't find his place in this family. His father returned to England a few months after his birth, he didn't get along with his mother and hated his stepfather. He considered his younger sibling to be inferior to him in every aspect of their life, like grades, sports, hobbies or else.
That's why Kazemaru/Nathan got his competitive spirit, because he wanted to shut his older half-brother's mouth, earn his respect for once and surpass himself. Unfortunalety, he never got the chance to do it because when Edgar was six and Kazemaru/Nathan was five, the firstborn was sent into another school in England according to his wishes. The young boy was finally reunited with his father and could start a new life.
The two boys never saw each other again, until the FFI, where they had to face off on the field. Edgar kept his personality, cold, cynical and arrogant but brave, while Kazemaru/Nathan stayed competitive, caring towards his team and calm. In order to maintain peace between their teams and to play fair, they pretended to not know each other at all. They acted like strangers. But I can imagine that after their match, in private, Edgar finally recognized his half-brother's potential at football. It was the same for Kazemaru/Nathan.
I hope my post is understandable for you all! Thanks for reading! As always, you can add something if you want!
