The funniest/saddest thing about people debating eliminating Down's Syndrome is when autistic people chime in to support it. Guess what, buddy? We're next in line for the cattle cars. I've been looking over 19th century and early 20th century illustrations for Pride and Prejudice, and I can't help but notice something. The tradition that we see in almost all recent adaptations of a brunette Elizabeth and a blonde Jane is basically non-existent.

Of course he's also the illustrator who gave us the remarkable sight of a strawberry blond Darcy.

Though to be fair, in 1907, he did a new set of watercolor illustrations which were completely different from his earlier drawings, and which give Elizabeth black hair and Jane light golden brown hair.

Both brunette, but Elizabeth's hair is a lightish golden brown, while Jane's is a rich auburn.
This rule also seems to apply to the adaptations that came before the 1995 miniseries.
The 1940 film has redhead Greer Garson as Elizabeth and dark haired Maureen O'Sullivan as Jane, for example (of course the film is in black and white, but I found a color production still of Garson)...
...and the 1980 miniseries has golden brown haired Elizabeth Garvie as her namesake and dark haired Sabina Franklyn as Jane.
Yet nowadays, if Elizabeth isn't a brunette and Jane a blonde, there are fans who cry blasphemy!
Is it all because of the 1995 miniseries? Did that series' popularity change everything?
the thing is, stephen king is generally pretty good at creating complex, well-rounded characters, which makes it all the more jarring when one of those characters abruptly comes out with what i'll term a "kingism". i don't know how best to define a kingism other than "you'll know it when you see it". it's the voice of the author intruding on the voice of the character, and in this case the voice of the author has a bad sense of humour and is ravenously, inexplicably horny
one of the hallmarks of a kingism is that when a character is being Horny On Main (or In Maine), they can never do it in a normal way. they have to come up with a sequence of words that nobody has ever said before in the history of the english language. here's another example:

This is off topic but remember when they had Berryz Koubou dropping masterpiece after masterpiece for the EDs, and then in GO they abandoned that to push Aoi's seiyuu for all the EDs and they just did not measure up. Why did they do that

Listen... I was There when we were all refreshing the page Endou's wife to be revealed. And I wanted EnAki but didn't get it. And I really did not like Hino picking Natsumi just so he could continue the unfunny "girl cook bad XD" jokes. But when we first saw Natsumi in this game, I thought we were going to get something better, and maybe they would fix the problems I had with how that was written. ...Nope. Now it's "Endou's scared of his wife and tells his son that all families are like that". What?! When was he ever scared of Natsumi? Wasn't that what she liked about him? We saw his parents and they were both very mild-mannered. What is he talking about?
Endou and Natsumi never give their depressed child presents and don't even talk to him onscreen. Okay.jpg. Hino when I catch you...

The bean situation is not right, morally
At first I thought the new scouting system was cool, but I quickly realized it was their worst one ever. It was at its best in the GO games.
Likewise, I thought the low-cost generic moves were a good idea at first, but as you progress through the game, the main effect is making characters pretty generic and underwhelming in terms of movesets... which are a huge part of the character when all we get is a two-line bio. Oh, you're a midfielder with Killer Slide and Illusory Ball? Get in line, that's half the cast. Clone Faker? Hey Presto? Future Eye? You're blowing my fricking mind here.
So the new scout characters become repetitive, and then the returning characters often lose their established moves. For example I love Pierrone, a GK introduced in Fire/Blizzard. But when I finally rolled her in the gacha, she doesn't have her iconic moves from either generation: Slash Nail and Table-Turner, or Flower Blizzard and Dust Devil from the GO games. Instead she has.... (rubbing my eyes in confusion) two dribble moves... and Burnout, which is a fire move that's never been associated with her, because she's an Earth character who mostly uses Wood and Earth moves? She's kind of a prominent scout character, because of her design and the fact that they gave her Mugen the Hand and God Catch in games 2 & 3. But here she's barely usable as a GK unless I use up two New Possibilities?
I've seen some people speculating that the use of genAI extended as far as assigning moves to the less important characters, and I suspect that's true, because this game just doesn't reflect the level of care that used to go into the scout characters. I'm seeing Megane Crash on multiple characters who don't even wear glasses. I'm recruiting goalkeeping units with 2/3 Shot moves, forwards with 2/3 GK moves. Adult Tachimukai doesn't have Mugen the Hand because he's too busy knowing Power Catch? It's chaos out here.
I really liked Unmei as a protagonist. I actually think he was > Endou for me. They finally really committed to a disabled character who genuinely did lose something he loves. and has to live with that and work around it instead of just Efforting his way out of it. (We did have Yuuichi, but he's more of a side character, and especially with Taiyou happening alongside him, there's still a lot of "just work hard enough and you'll get there someday!")
With that in mind, I wasn't bothered by Unmei going onto the field for the final 15—disabled characters can choose to do dangerous things, and they're careful to show that he's just directing things and not pulling off epic moves. I do wish they had shown him paying more of a price, though. He just seemed a normal level of tired afterwards, even though he barely made it through that dance battle at the start of the game.
