James was just curious

So he asked Keith if he could come with him, just to get to know more about the lions and voltron in general

Keith, being the good boyfriend he is, gives in and now he sits with his boyfriend in the cockpit and keeps exploring their planet a little bit more than they already did

"Why don't you slow down?"

Slowly, Keith turned his head. "Why should I?"

So that's when the discussion about moves and flights and other pilot things starts

After what feels like an eternity Keith is pissed af, so when James says that everything he does would have been better if he just stayed in the Garrison Keith just snorts and starts ignoring his boyfriend

"Keith."

"Oh Keith come on."

"Are you fucking kidding me?!"

"Never say something like that again", Keith finally says with gritted teeth. "I might dropped out of the Garrison but everything the space taught me is so much more important."

"Keith, I-"

"No, stop. You might be the best of your generation but don't tell me how I should fly my lion. He's more than a space shuttle or something like that."

For a moment, James stays silent. Than he put a hand on Keith's shoulder, whispering a soft "sorry".

"No, I am supposed to be the one apologising. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that." Keith's head hangs low

James, being the loving and caring boyfriend he is, gave him a small kiss. "You're forgiven. I know how much you love your lion."

Keith smirks. "And I know how much you love being the smartass."

James was tired. His eyes were burning, nearly watering, his limbs were so heavy and he felt sore overall due to the amount of hours he spent in the simulator.

He rubbed his eyes and yawned.

"Tired?", Keith asked, shifting slightly on his spot on the bed.

"Just a lil bit", James mumbled into his -Keith's- pillow. "Never thought saving the universe would be this exhausting, you know?"

Of course Keith knew but instead of comforting his boyfriend, he just stayed where he was (on the bed, back against the wall and reading... a book?) and said with a cocky grin: "Well, actually you haven't even saved the whole universe, just the earth."

James groaned and attempted at throwing a pillow at his boyfriend but failed. His arms were too numb.

"Don't get mad at me, silly", Keith giggled, finally putting away this stupid book and scooting closer to James. He put a hand on the blanket, the other one carefully landed in James' hair and started stroking immediately.

"'m not mad at you." James' voice was nearly gone, his eyes closed.

"Get some rest", Keith whispered while watching his boyfriend snuggle deeper into the thick blanket. "I'll stay. "

"Promise?"

"Promise."

"What are you doing?" Keith asked as he slipped under the blankets next to James.

"Playing Pokémon" he responded, not really paying attention to his boyfriend who leaned his head against James' shoulder. "Pokéwhat?"

Slowly, James turned his head to Keith. "What did you just say?"

Keith, looking a little bit baffled, just raised an eyebrow. "What's Pokémon?"

James took a minute to realise what the black head just asked. Then, after realising that he was in space for like an eternity, his lips curled into a smile. "Pokémons are little monsters and I try to catch them all. You know, to become the best trainer in the world."

Keith looked at him like he didn't really believe him. "Best trainer in the world? Who's it now if it's not you?"

James shrugged. "It's a game, you know. Ryan and me, we played it nearly every night when we were younger. It was calming, I think, just keep playing this game and completely forgetting about everything that has to do with the Garrison."

Keith snorted. "Never thought you would do anything besides learning."

James laughed, ruffled roughly Keith's hair and realising he wore it in a ponytail again.

"Tell me more about it", Keith suddenly demanded, snuggling closer into James' side.

James smiled softly and started talking.
