Some plot points of the Lance and Alejo AU:
Lance’s full name is Alejandro McClain-Esposito. He is the blue paladin of Voltron and is captured by the Galra about 7 months into his time in space.
The Galra replace him with an organically formed robot created by druids, imbuing it with a sample of his own quintessence and programming it as a sleeper agent designed to feed them information about Voltron.
They don’t realize that by creating what is essentially a clone, they’ve accidentally created a living being that develops his own soul pretty quickly and, being a copy of Lance, is absolutely not inclined to follow the directives programmed into him by his handlers.
This results in a very confused and slightly panicking Not-Lance trying to figure out why he keeps having the urge to hurt his teammates and/or sneak off to some random moon carrying sensitive files. It’s getting better, though… at least he’s not sleep walking towards the hangars anymore. Right?
After discovering his true nature, our imposter (post-existential crisis or three) begins to examine his new identity as the team works to find Original Lance.
He doesn’t want to go by Lance, of course—“oh dios the real blue paladin is being tortured because of me” type guilt—but he is still…Alejandro. He still remembers his mama and siblings and all his time in space, even if that wasn’t really him, per se. Fortunately, there’s more than one way to shorten the name Alejandro! Thus, Alejo is born.
Original Lance’s primary tormentor is a druid with a very sick sense of humor and a lot of scientific curiosity. This does not go well for him.
They gave him to Deiora (our druid) because she was recently promoted to “give the crazy scientist some stuff to fuck around with because sometimes she actually accomplishes something useful” level, aka “do not ask how the sausage is made, for the love of your sanity.”
Human scientists will love to study these two!
This is not a sad story, it is angst with a lot of hurt/comfort and tbh some crack will likely be thrown in.
I like my characters a little traumatized before they get hugs.
