I just got yelled at by my mom.

I have intrusive thoughts and this is something everyone knows- I’m on medication for it along with other mental health issues.

She brought up not knowing where her black cat is. One that she regularly lets outside even though I tell her not to because he’s come inside with multiple injuries before, not to mention the coyotes around the neighborhood, and now the word on the neighborhood app is that black cats are disappearing and someone found a beheaded cat “ritual” thingy and warned people to keep their cats inside.

I complained again and she blew up at me raising her voice and told me that unlike me she did have the LUXURY to dwell on thoughts like that. That she has to keep her mind in positive places so that she can keep moving forward.

I know my mom is a good person but also how can she say things so careless?

I am mixed. My mom is white as fuck. But my dad isn’t and my grandparents came straight off the fucking boat- my grandfather literally.

I wasn’t able to know my fathers side of my family growing up so I have crazy racial imposter syndrome.

But when I was growing up I had no Southeast Asians or Micronesians to look up to so I always identified with the closest thing on the screen in front of me.

Sooooo….

Does anyone else who grew up mixed or impossible to be accurately represented in the media feel protective of other cultures they identified with growing up? Not to participate in but just to keep safe?

I get angry when I see people trying to appropriate other cultures as if they were mine personally but in reality they were just something that I was able to look at during my childhood and know it was important to someone. Like someone had what I wanted so desperately.

They grew up with a culture and community that ran deep within their blood. So don’t disrespect something you don’t understand what it’s like to lose.

I try not to butt in and I never comment about anybody else’s culture but mine- I think the best way to respect everyone is to listen what they have to say and I learn a lot.

I have no need to appropriate or “steal” like white people because I’m not culture-less. I am just unfortunate enough to not have any connections to a side of me I wish I could know.

I want to turn my envious sin into a righteous deed. Or some bullshit.

Sometimes I wish I could have empath superpowers so I could give anyone who makes fun of mental health a panic attack.

TWICE is the nations girl group and they used to be #1 in everything without a doubt. A lot of groups are charting or trending over them with brand reputations or popularity in Korea and I know that could be changed in an INSTANT if they didn’t have to focus on a Japanese comeback or something else within a week.

ITS SOOO EASY TO GIVE US NEW JEONGYEON CONTENT.

Like do you know how many photos/videos they have of her?

Photos from previous photo shoots that they can edit to match teasers and photocards and monographs? Not to mention the photos that fans/other members have.

Even if Jeongyeon or any of the other girls need a break they can still rest without losing the spotlight in something the ONCE Fan Club. If they are indeed doing it without her that is so stupid.

ONCE and Jeongyeon Deserve to have her in it. Use and unseen Photo from her blue outfit from ‘Feel Special’ Era or ‘What is Love’ Fan meet or even as far back as ‘Twiceland: The Opening’ there are so Many Options!

No one is my family has any connection to Korea I just stumbled upon Hyuna🍒 on YouTube down the rabbit hole I went.

I found myself being nostalgic for the days of when international fans would just be happy to get a Eng/Han/Rom reupload of a Kpop music video from some YouTube channel ran by a dedicated bilingual fan-

I see these fan wars and the way international fans represent themselves now… it sucks.

It used to feel like we were guests trying to be respectful of our hosts home.

Then it we became more comfortable and we started being silly- like a hanging at a friends house You are comfortable but still aware of your manners.

Now with a lot of the newer fans it feels like they are just coming in stamping mud all over the carpet, grabbing a beer, flipping on the TV, putting their feet up, and starting fights.

If that makes sense.

I just feel like as international fans somehow there has been a jump from enjoying the music to owning the culture and idols.

BTS didn’t pave the way because they have #1’s THAT LITERALLY IS THE END GOAL

I’m a fan of BTS I don’t stan boy groups in general but I appreciate the hard work they put in.

The rumor that they “grew a part” was so the pressure of them being seen together could fall away again.

We haven’t seen them together once! That takes a lot of careful planning and if no one is looking for them like before it would be a whole lot easier to sneak around.

I don’t think they started the rumor, I think it was an opportunity they saw a grabbed it.

Both companies being all “We have to check in with the idols” What if they texted each other and said let’s hide this again.

It’s better for their relationship and their career.

If they broke up it would be easier for both to say it immediately. Why still be attached to each other?

The first comment I always see under original vs used Kpop choreo is:

“Too bad they didn’t use the original but it needs to be easier so they can sing.”

I don’t think enough thought process goes into this comment. I think you’re not giving our idols enough credit. Sure singing and dancing it HARD but a lot more goes into it.

Consider wardrobe- What is the look for this comeback? Will the idols be able to wear a dress or a body harness while rolling on the floor during a chorus? What about their Mic? Hair?

What about the fancams? Will they look good to their fans? If the choreo depends on the visual member with only 8.3 seconds of lines squatting for in a ball for 4 minutes to make the lead and main vocal look like they are in the center that just isn’t going to work! Think of the fans!

What about stamina? Yes, for a comeback stage- a single performance you could go all out for 5 minutes and then collapse, but what about a concert? When your idols go on tour this song might be the one they perform hours in! They might have to dance this choreo exhausted already!

We also need to think about what current/ past injuries have or things idols just don’t feel comfortable doing.

This is terrible… no Jeongyeon? It’s like they are pushing for an OT8.

I was already skeptical when the official announcement from JYPE was that Jeongyeon was taking a break because of “psychological anxiety” when we all knew she was injured for a long time before the ICSM era.

Telling everyone she was anxious instead of saying that she was overworked and her body needed a break would have made the company look bad.

Saying she has anxiety makes her seem fully responsible for everything- especially with the stigmas around mental health. We’ve seen people shame her for not being able to “handle” the career she’s chosen and compare her to Mina because she gained weight. First, if you care about her weight screw you. Second, let me remind you any weight she gained she probably gained due to medication, or seriously needed rest forced on her because of the abuse her body took from mistreatment of being overworked while severely injured. Now all of this falls on the shoulders of her instead of the company. This is how they keep their hands clean and point fingers which will be important later.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if this has been happening since the Feel Special era but Jeongyeon stayed strong through physical pain so Mina who struggles with anxiety could take the time to get the treatment she needed.

I’m sure JYPE would not be okay being down two members at once. I would’nt be surprised if we see someone else take a break soon. The girls might be taking turns to stay sane, but with the contract renewal coming up they might be scared to… which bring me to my next point.

This wouldn’t be a smart idea but JYPE could drop a girl or two if he wanted. If the company decided that Jeongyeon was too injured or Chaeyoung was too rebellious they could simply let them go. Then say they left on good terms to focus on acting or studies or whatever. I’m not saying this would happen but it is possible. Hearing that part of Jeongyeon’s interview where she was begging to stay in TWICE as long as her body would let her was haunting- was that for her or for her company to hear?

JYPE has never had a girl groups of this size before this company has never really tried to keep a girl group successful for long period of time. Jyp likes to get really excited about a project then move onto the next one. He did it with Wonder Girls, then Miss A. Twice stuck and when he moved onto Itzy and NiziU he was still stuck, now he has to mature them and that’s not his strong suit.

He obviously finds maturing groups and making soloists boring that’s why so many of his former adult idols find success once they leave his company. They are neglected as they age within JYPE. Just look at GOT7.

I guess what I’m trying to say is TWICE is huge and maturing. JYPE has no track record of long term success other than himself and even that’s iffy. Everyone else has left for usually good reason. I don’t expect TWICE to stay with JYPE forever just please maybe don’t mess it up for a little bit longer?

Other than the fact I think you can see whoever wrote this has an obvious bias for some of the girls. The “fun facts” are weird and only something already deep Once would find amusing.

Plus they bring up the fact the Jeongyeon changed her name because she was bullied!

*Fun Fact* This girl was bullied so hard about being called a boy and a part of the fandom still encourages this behavior so I’m gonna bring that up instead of the fact that her favorite teaser look was “What is Love?” Because of the feminine energy it brought.

Also the Momo fact about bumping her head and not being able to speak English well anymore- that is VERY endearing to established Once but maybe not the best way to introduce to new fans.

*Fan Fact* Momo could speak English but just like Cinnamon Bun in adventure time we are just watching someone go through life with with a head that cracked open a kingdom while trying to do a flip. Instead of saying popular Kpop choreographer Lia Kim chose Momo as the most talented idol dancer.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Lola bunny was fine in the first movie not because she was “sexy” but because she was confident, skilled, and a good team member.

When I watched Space Jam as a little girl I thought Lola Bunny was so cool- not sexy- just the girl character that I could look up to. Never once did I catch onto the nasty stuff y’all were trying to pull with her.

The only reason she was over sexualized was because the other characters treated her that way. You want her to be less sexual? Make the men NOT gawk at her? Ever think of that? No? Because they ALWAYS blame the woman. It MUST be the woman at fault.

That’s why I wish women like me who grew up loving her character could’ve been in the room attempting to preserve the accidental beauty you pervs created along with Lola.

But instead men made her dumb to amuse themselves- now they’ll ruin her because they think a woman’s body isn’t capable of playing basketball- or being sexy while doing it. Not even if they are a bunny.
