Who do I contact to help a black woman in need ? Like immediately, I have a friend in Orlando FL , who could possibly be homeless come tomorrow and Iâm tryna set up an Airbnb for her. We need at least $2,000. Idk how the gofundmes and all that works , but if you got a big platform on here that caters to black women, Iâd appreciate the reblog/support. Her cashapp is $juliettemaya
Update: Weâve gotten $10 towards the goal of $2,000. She could be homeless by tonight.
Please donate if you can , even if itâs just $1. Thank you.

âCaper in the Castroâ was thought to be long lost.
Caper in the Castro is a legendary video game, not because legions of die-hard fans continue to play it, but because it was thought to be lost forever. Now, what is largely considered to be the first LGBTQ-focused video game (it was released in 1989) is on the Internet Archive for anybody to play.
The game is a noir point-and-click that puts the player in the (gum)shoes of a private detective named Tracker McDyke who is, in case you couldnât guess by the name, a lesbian. McDyke must unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of Tessy LaFemme, a transgender woman, in San Franciscoâs Castro district, an historically gay neighbourhood.
OOOOOHhh!
The game was released as charityware â freely, with a strong request to give a donation an AIDS Charity of their choice. Iâd like to push towards still following that and donating, if youâre able.
(And you might also want to donate to the Internet Archive, who is hosting it now, while youâre at it â theyâre in the middle of a donation drive, and could use your support.)
Internet Archive is under legal attack for copyright infringement, so I hope you will donate to them or another worthy charity.
Fun fact: the reason wearing seatbelts became common in the US was because kids were trained to in school, and would constantly bug their parents to wear their own seatbelts. In my momâs words, everyone was shamed by little children into behaving safely.
This is how I got my mom to quit smoking,,, by annoying the everloving shit oughta her at age 7
My 8 year old looked at a man in the airport (when I had to fly her to her Dadâs for the summer) and the sass came out in 3 ways.
First: She would constantly ask why someone wasnât wearing a mask, loudly. âItâs not like itâs hard.â
Second: Standing in line to get food she noticed ome guy behind us wasnât adhering to the 6 feet guidelines. She turned to him. âSix feet please.â He was so surprised he stepped back automatically. But then glared at me as I shrugged. âRules are rules dude. She did say please.â
Third: A woman sneezed on the other side of the terminal waiting area. She was joined by a couple other kids for this one. âIf you cough or sneeze, use your elbow please.â Honestly half of us were trembling to keep in the laughter and the others were just shocked to hear kids speak up like that.
Wholesome

Yes weâve all said how The Umbrella Academy show runners listened to the fans and made changes in the storylines but I want to point out that this is THE FIRST AND ONLY show where fans said âthis character is gayâ and the next season they made the character gay! I challenge you to name another show like that. Everything else on tv is either queerbating or not acknowledging the fans at all and tua just went âyeah, youâre rightâ and changed it. What legends!
get fucked op

tonight marks the 3rd anniversary of the ezidi genocide. thousands of women, children and men were abducted, enslaved and/or executed. 420,000 ezidis were forced to flee. there are still more than 3,000 women and children in captivity. we will never forget.
tonight marks the 4th anniversary of the ezidi genocide which is still ongoing. thousands of ezidis remain in captivity and many of those children with no idea of who they are. over 350,000 ezidis remain in idp camps, their homeland is neither demined nor rebuilt.
let us not forget that 11,000 kurdish soldiers and their 200 commanders, who were supposed to defend the ezidis, ran away, and they even prevented ezidis from leaving their villages before running away. the kurdish regional government still continues to conceal the commandersâ complicity in the ezidi genocide.
August 3rd is Ezidi genocide remembrance day. itâs the 6th anniversary. Over 200,000 ezidis are still in IDP camps (where conditions are unsustainable) and thousands remain missing.

child handling for the childless nurse
My current job has me working with children, which is kind of a weird shock after years in environments where a âyoungâ patient is 40 years old.  Hereâs my impressions so far:
Birth - 1 year: Essentially a small cute animal. Â Handle accordingly; gently and affectionately, but relying heavily on the caregivers and with no real expectation of cooperation.
Age 1 - 2: Hates you. Â Hates you so much. Â You can smile, you can coo, you can attempt to soothe; they hate you anyway, because youâre a stranger and youâre scary and youâre touching them. Â Thereâs no winning this so just get it over with as quickly and non-traumatically as possible.
Age 3 - 5: Nervous around medical things, but possible to soothe.  Easily upset, but also easily distracted from the thing that upset them.  Smartphone cartoons and âwho wants a sticker?!!?!?â are key management techniques.
Age 6 - 10: Really cool, actually.  I did not realize kids were this cool.  Around this age they tend to be fairly outgoing, and super curious and eager to learn.  Absolutely do not babytalk; instead, flatter them with how grown-up they are, teach them some Fun Gross Medical Facts, and introduce potentially frightening experiences with âhey, you want to see something really cool?â
Age 11 - 14: Extremely variable.  Can be very childish or very mature, or rapidly switch from one mode to the other.  At this point you can almost treat them as an adult, just⌠a really sensitive and unpredictable adult.  Do not, under any circumstances, offer stickers.  (But they might grab one out of the bin anyway.)
Age 15 - 18: Basically an adult with severely limited life experience. Â Treat as an adult who needs a little extra education with their care. Â Keep parents out of the room as much as possible, unless the kid wants them there. Â At this point you can go ahead and offer stickers again, because theyâll probably think itâs funny. Â And theyâll want one. Â Deep down, everyone wants a sticker.
This is also a pretty excellent guide to writing kids of various ages
Good guide. It is one of my biggest pet peeves when 6-10 year olds are all written like 3-4 year olds. Positively cringey. If in doubt err on the side of the kid being more mature than you expect.
if in doubt err of the side of the kid being more mature than you expect
Iâm 29 and I want a sticker.
Deep down, everyone wants a sticker. EVERYONE.
isnât it kinda wild that despite all the members of mcr now in or nearing their 40â˛s, mcr fanart and fanfic has become mainly frozen in a time where they were in their 20â˛s, solidifying a use of them in art and writing more as âcharactersâ in a book or tv show rather than the real humans they are today, and how this was widely fueled by their âcharacterizationâ in lotms and public presentation of themselves as a family-like friend group with strong âcharacter typesâ and roles attributed to each of them, a sentiment which progressed even further when the band itself ended and the members went in different directions leaving the fanbase with nothing but the past to base their creations off of for nearly a decade, and as of now fanfic and fanart has become a world of its own, utilizing âcharactersâ based off of old mcr that progressively become less and less directly related to who the band members are today, effectively immortalizing the band and turning them into the very âideaâ gerard intended for it to be??
because yeah i think about that a lot
shout out to my he/theys and she/theys!!! all my homies love he/theys and she/theys
