As another December rolls in, the rains begin to flow. The genocide promises to end- and even if it had fulfilled that promise, which it hasn't, the people of Gaza have still been left without their homes or shelters. Those who have feared the buzz of drones and the crash of missiles for years are faced by new enemies: cold, Rainwater floods and, possibly, snow. Already dealing with hunger, fear and disease caused by destroyed sanitation systems, they must now take care against hypothermia and pneumonia.
My friend Amal Ashour and her sister Reem are doing their best to keep twelve people alive, including Amal's unborn child. Several children make up their family, but there is no age at which it becomes acceptable to expect people to live through Hell. These families, these individual people, all deserve to have a future.
Right now, Amal is doing everything to raise funds to survive and to eventually make it out of Gaza. They have only reached 3k out of 50k, but the money you send can be what gets them an E-Sim, can be the difference between a full stomach and a night without terrors.
