Fic Rec Friday Week 48

This week our good friend @characterassassination-at-9am is letting us Shamelessly Promote Our Own Fics.

I'll shameless admit to not being shy about self-promoting on Fridays. To quote Rachel "I did it last week." I'm elle_elleg on AO3, but apparently Tumblr has a vendetta against underscores, hence the slightly different name on here.

First fic I'll recommend is the one that originally inspired me to start writing. I was looking back over it today and I am so proud of myself for putting together a 7500 word/multi-chapter fic only a few weeks after I started writing.

Patrick is injured during his baseball game bringing his parents to Schitt’s Creek where they learn some interesting information about their son and his business partner while Patrick is high on pain medication. Or another version of “Loose-lipped High! Patrick”

I will also recommend my two fics featuring Ray interrupting our two favorite boys while trying to connect because I think everyone can use a few smiles and laughs this morning and both were just so much fun to write. Seriously Ray is such a hoot!!!

Laundry Day

It is Patrick’s day off and all he wants to do is kiss this cute boy he likes while he waits for his laundry to finish in the dryer. Unfortunately, his roommate/landlord/former boss really likes to chat.

Fic Rec Friday week 48!!!!

I had a few ideas for what is most likely my last week to host. Ultimately, I felt like it was time....since we're winding down....for....SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION!

That's it. That's the theme. Do you have a fic that you're particularly proud of? Or a fic that got a lot of attention when you posted but hasn't been recc'd yet? Or something that didn't get enough attention and you want to give it a boost? Here's your chance! I know we all hate it, but we should be proud of the work we've done and there's nothing wrong with patting ourselves on the back every now and then ;)

I'm going to start with 3 of mine. The first two come from my 'Pants on Fire' series wherein Patrick Brewer is caught lying about one thing or another, usually to embarrassing results. These two are less embarrassing and more heartwarming and ended up being chapters long instead of a one-shot. Some of my best works spawned from short fics that you carnies loved and encouraged me to write more! So thank you all!

For my 3rd rec, I'm going to go with my frozen over fic from a couple of years ago. It's just got a healthy dose of embarrassment, along with some feelings too....and my most favorite parents, Marcy and Clint.

This week our friend @stargazer56 has asked for Our Favorite Underrated Gems and what a fun little trip through my bookmarks this was. Here's a few fics that I really love, but do not think have ever been recommended and deserve some more love from others:

Hearts' Awakening by @InEveryUniverse-SC

This fic about David as a gallerist in NYC trying to make it on his own and Patrick as an up-and-coming musician trying to find himself helped motivate me to join in on Fic Rec Fridays when I noticed many months ago that no one rec'd it for the Music Theme. It was a few weeks later that I finally made the plunge and posted my first recs (Tropes I think was the theme)

into the wild blue by Ayes

In this AU, instead of ending up at the Amish Farm at the end of Season One, David is recused on the side of the road by Clint and taken back to his farm. Every rewatch as we see David driving away in that stolen truck, tears in his eyes, I just want to give him a big hug and let him know it's going to be okay and he is going to be so loved by such a wonderful person. This fic lets our sweet boy find that love a little sooner. There's also a sequel which does a great job of blending Season 4 dialog into the Season 2 timeline.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE- 4.02 Pregnancy Test Coda Fic by @cheesecurdsgravyandfries / Poutini

Has this been rec'd before? Think there was a Night at Stevie's week shortly before I started participating. Anyway, this fic is just so incredibly clever, so much fun, and obviously so much hard work went into not only the writing, but also the organizing and hyperlinking and it definitely deserves more love.

I am also going to take a selfish this week and self-rec one of my fics that I wish received more love. This is my Patrick backstory fic that I am so proud of. It is the cumulation of literally years of forming his story in my head and months of actually getting it written, reread, proofread, and posted. I'm not sad about the engagement it has received since I posted it earlier this year, I just kind of wish I had been able to post it when the fandom was bigger. I would have loved to engage more with readers in the comments about our sweet broken boy 💙
