Unfortunately I finished this with a meh feeling despite being sucked in at the start
Maybe a ⭐⭐⭐ for Grandma Ruth and Bela
Who put up with her parents regrets becoming hersI am happy I read this tho.
'the girls the gays and the theys' is a wonderful phrase because it:
1. implies that queers are allied with every single woman, which keeps the phrase as is meant to be: made by nonqueer women for nonqueer women. (because, of course, queerness is only safe in its existence when nonqueer women don't feel threatened by it, being included at all times.)
2. implies men can only be there when they're gay (despite the fact that 'theys' is included and clearly meant to speak to transgender people alone), which immediately is both trans male erasure and "nonqueer guys don't belong at pride" rhetoric.
3. excludes gq/nonbinary people who use it/its and neopronouns/no pronouns, or people who use more than one pronoun set.
4. refers to the gq/nonbinary people who are included with their pronouns rather than their identities.
5. very noncoincidentally refers to girls, gays (presumed effeminate men) and 'theys' (presumed 'afabs') specifically. which could mean nothing.
truly just the pinnacle of pop feminist queer activism. we've done it folks. everyone pack up and go home now. have a good weekend with the nuclear family.
"decentering trans men" is not feminist or anti patriarchy. you are doing the exact same thing that cis patriarchy is doing; silencing any gendered experience that is not cis or cis-normative/conforming. you are not punching up when you punch transgender people regardless of their chosen gender, presentation or sex characteristics. because transgender people are gender minorities. transgender men are already not centered in any conversation ever, even when in regards to their own bodies, minds, gender identities and history. we (I'm not a trans Man but I am trans Masc, for what it's worth) are not given the privileges and rights of cis men unless we mirror their bodies and actions perfectly, which ultimately puts us in more danger when we are inevitably outed as "fake" men. when we are men but do not resemble cis men, we are treated like faggots at best, by half assed allies, and defective women who need to be fixed at worst, by transphobes. it's okay to center women, or even only talk about women at all, you are not obligated to care about trans men and mascs. but purposefully "decentering" and demonizing us further will only kill us, sincerely and legitimately, not as a joke on Tumblr. and if that's your intention then I hope your communities learn to recognize that murdering minorities is not praxis and encourage you to find better means of coping. unless you're cis and pulling this shit. then I hope you lose internet connection permanently. I'm not even asking for you to do anything for us, you never even need to bring us up. just stop beating us down and painting us like oppressors. like it's the bare minimum
trans feminism should be about dismantling ideas that belong to cispatriarchy. that should include oppositional sexism. as trans people, we should be acutely aware that men and women are not meaningfully different and that people can be both, or be one without conforming to generalizations. a subsection of feminism that just reinforces patriarchal ideas of Abuser Gender and Victim Gender/Strong Gender and Weak Gender is just a queer-repackaged fascist psyop and we need to stop falling for it. you can uplift women and trans people without putting anyone else down. you can fight bigots and assholes without generalizing on the basis of their identity. please for fucks sake

some of you hate trans men more than you love and support trans women, and it shows.
unfriendly reminder: denying the very much proven and (unfortunately) prevalent existence of transmasc erasure is still, in fact, transmasc erasure.
yall its 2026 can we stop calling it “women’s healthcare”. there are people who exist that need uterus, vulva, vagina, and breast related healthcare and aren’t women. PLEASE stop forgetting about trans people and intersex people for the love of fucking god
"decentre trans men" when were trans men ever centred. show me. show me sources. show me what time in history trans men were centred. you cant.
transmascs : hey so our lives are closely tied to women's rights, we are affected by legislature restricting reproductive rights, and we would not be able to express ourselves at all if it wasn't for the work of feminists in the last two centuries and -
TRFs : transmen need to shut THE FUCK UP about feminism it's not about YOU birthday boy, check your privilege #bombthatkillsallTMEs #transfeminism

I've never met anyone who's issues with transgender people couldn't be solved by minding their own business.
The crux of the anti trans movement is a war on bodily autonomy. They don't want you to have any agency over what you look like, how you dress, who you date, whether to have kids, etc.
They want total control over you. Not just trans people. Not just queer people. You. Everyone.
Trans people are just a scapegoat. They want total control over everyone's self expression. They want the right to mold you into their perfect little cog in their dehumanizing machine.
Happy Trans Day of Visibility. Our rights are your rights. Our destruction is your destruction.
The EHRC ruling affects everyone and if you don't see the harm because you think it only impacts trans people then you're lacking sense and decency. No one should be gender policed to have a wee, and the second you give strangers the right to harass others who they believe don't fit their idea of what a perceived gender 'should be' then you're apart of the problem.
Everyone would be at risk of harassment.
And for fcks sake trans people deserve respect and safety which should be common sense at this point!
This stupid policy is just making trans people and gender non conforming people more anxious and ostracised publicly. It's not just about those who will be 'wrongly accused of being trans' that matter (not that they don't, before you fuss). However when it's a trans person being 'accused' of being trans and therfore harassed, that's not right either. (is that sentence simple enough to understand) We don't deserve to be accused and excluded. So don't just offer pathetic token care for those you think deserve it more by being cis gender.
We, trans people, deserve the same amount of outrage when we are accosted and othered. Are we not worthy of protest too? (I suppose all these guidances and legalisations made without input of trans individuals give me the answer)
How is that protection? This protects no one no matter how much you try to rationalise it.'It's to protect women and children'How again is this protecting anyone? If someone wanted to harass and assault someone in the toilets, then this can just do the simple task of pushing a door open. I don't think a rapist or abuser will care if the door happens to have a silhouette of a dress, I think crime prevention would be much easier by now if that was the case. What about all the women and and men who will be hurt and harassed when you force them to use another bathroom because you think that what they were assigned at birth based on genitals matters? What about using this conviction to tackle violence against women when the abuser is a white cis man, domestic abuse, stalking, misogyny that shows up every goddamm day?!
I doubt anyone wants to be in a public toilet more than they need to so just let people piss in peace. Those who support this or support the instigators such as terfs (you probably know of JK Rowling at this point but some believe nostalgia is a good enough excuse to continue helping her fund towards hate. You CAN'T separate art from the artist if they are currently using the money to fund anti lgbtqia groups.) then remember you're condoning societal exclusion, dehumanisation, misogyny and bigotry by allowing those who think they 'can always tell' what makes 'a real woman' or a 'real man'.
This is an endless tangent that I could repeat over and over because this shouldn't be happening but it is and not even for the first time we've had the bloody argument about who can use which toilet. Its ridiculous and saddening. (and oh god I've really picked the wrong time to 'come out')

I've seen so many posts lately like "trans men have got to get more feminine" and it's lowkey pissing me off because we haven't even normalized trans men being masculine yet. Have you not been paying attention to trans men when they talk about being kicked out of LGBT spaces for "appearing too cishet" like can we lock in and understand that sexuality and oftentimes gender aren't something you can visually tell before we start trying to normalize something that's already normalized
OP, I'd like to add something that is absolutely not meant to detract from your very good point but rather to enrich the discussion, I hope it's okay.
Something else I have noticed on top of what you describe is that very often transmascs (of any ‘type’, gender identity, sexuality, and so on) that are not medicalized or not medicalized enough to pass are ALSO sidelined and dismissed, if not outright treated with hostility, in LGBT+ spaces, including ones that explicitly say they are 'trans inclusive'. So we are also sidelined if a person in these spaces deems us to be 'too cishet', but in the opposite sense - too much like a cis woman whose masculinity is not 100% irrefutable and unclockable.
And this applies not just to transmascs that choose to have a more 'feminine' gender presentation, but also just as much to transmascs that DO style themselves as masculine as possible but get still read as ‘tryhard girls wanting to feel special’ by onlookers entirely because of physical characteristics they cannot (yet) change such as facial features, voice, height, visible breasts even through binders &/or tape, body fat distribution, etc.
So we’re essentially damned if we do and damned if we don’t: we either aren’t trying hard enough and are silly little girl interlopers bothering the Real Queers or, the second we start to pass a bit too well, we’re evil rapey threats scaring the Real Queers.
The entire system is rigged against our existence in LGBT+ spaces as equal and valued participants, because people either don't care if we live or die or actively want us to disappear.
