I got an AO3 comment once which summarised said, 'I've been reading this fic for years and I keep coming back to it over and over because it's so amazing and I feel guilty that all this time I never commented, so this is me letting you know how much it's meant to me for so long.' And that was incredible, because five minutes before I didn't know that person existed and then they tell me that I've made such an impact on them.

It is never too late to leave a comment - the author will always be thrilled.

I just commented for the first time on one of my favorite fics - one of those times I was SO sure I had commented and yet somehow I hadn’t. I felt a little awkward about it, like oops no lead up, just sudden “this has been one of my favorite fics for years and years” out of nowhere, but I know what receiving a comment like that would do to my writer heart (good things!) so I sent it.

The author responded not 24 hours later, saying it made their day. Which in turn made MY day. Positivity all around. It’s never too late to comment on a fic.

The thing that’s always missing from the “women didn’t fight for the right to work they were already working they fought to get paid” is that many women also very much wanted to work.

Women wanted to be lawyers and engineers and chemists. They wanted to use their brains in challenging and interesting ways. They wanted to get the satisfaction from solving problems and inventing new shit and getting attention for it.

I know not everyone is born with intellectual curiosity or drive or determination but some people are and many of those people are women.
