are we going to start acknowledging that cancel culture does not work on oppressors and has thus created a system of impossible morality which makes people stagnant and fearful instead of empathetic and productive members of society. and those under the most scrutiny for moral purity are most often the victims of the so called cancelable offense

there are people on this site who genuinely believe that there isn't an insane amount of hype around the harry potter hbo series because "i haven't seen ANYONE talking about it!" in their bubble of the internet...and they're also the people who believe that hogwarts legacy flopped and didn't make $1 billion as one of the best selling games of all time...we need a recalibration here, like it doesn't serve anyone to insist upon this other reality where harry potter isn't still the cultural juggernaut that it is.

pupgender is just as much a serious gender as woman, mew/mews pronouns aren't less respectable than she/her or he/him, being stargender isn't any more "silly" or "frivolous" than being a man, being xenogender isn't the gender equivalent to playing with toys we ARE our genders no matter how playful with gender a xenogendered person is

on the one hand i agree but on the other it doesn’t fucking matter. you think what you do has meaning? you think that convincing a single person to stop buying Harry Potter merch achieves anything? it doesn’t. the world operates on such an astronomically large scale that no individual action can actually effect it. you convince that guy; another million guys fill his place.

Monitored bank accounts for those under 18. Requiring parental consent for medical procedures. Parental controls on personal devices. "We won't teach this at school because parents are supposed to address it at home." Anything that puts all of the child's power onto the parents' hand, anything that assumes parents are going to inherently do enough of a good job no one else needs to interfer, every single one of these IS going to be used by controlling, neglectful or unprepared parents and already are, and if the system did not account for that very real, tangible, dangerous tendency, then it's not worth fucking anything. You shouldn't make things "for the youth"/with children in mind if you are going to overlook this painfully common aspect of their lives u_u

when they say "for the children", almost universally they in fact actually mean "for [controlling] the children"

i think misogyny starts to feel like a lot more crazy of an opression when u process that we are half of the entire world population. half of all humans. and half of all humans have been systemically opressed by the other half in large swatches of the world for going on hundreds and thousands. h a l f. and we treat sexism like its somehow much less of an opression than other ones
