i think people are starting to confuse class analysis with bioessentialism. like... no not all men do this, but Men as a constructed social class do do this. that's still okay to say. that is regular material analysis of the world around us.

The funniest thing Ryan Coogler could do with his X-Files reboot is to set it in the same world as Sinners. Imagine the events that occurred in Sinners existing as an X-file in the show.

that tik tok audio of the kids talking over a zoom call and one of them is super laggy and one of them is playing really loud music etc etc and then someone enters the chat unexpectedly and they all start screaming

"it's just growing pains" -> "you're too young for that to hurt that bad" -> "you just need to get in better shape" -> "welcome to being old, everyone is in pain"

Stella's story is so eerie, because it's very clear that the way that she was pushed into avatardom was absolutely tragic and shouldn't have happened to her that way, but as the story goes on, there are little moments where you realize that The Beholding didn't choose her for no reason.

She asks questions that border on rude. She rambles on and on about random topics, in an effort to get other people to "know" and understand. She eavesdrops on people's conversations regularly, and is Very Good at it. She watched her bully beat on other people for months after being marked, and didn't do anything about it for months partially out of fear but partially because she could not look away. She draws what she "sees" as well as statements she reads and hears as a way of documenting it (similar to Jon recording statements). Her artistic passions are part of what makes her powers so scary because on top of using people's fears and memories against them, she amplifies that fear by using her imagination to make it worse.
