as someone who studies this: statistically speaking, child abuse (including “spanking”, because all forms of hitting children are abusive) is pretty much equally prevalent in households of all racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. so yeah, don’t let people use the “culture” excuse on you, but also, don’t believe others are experiencing it less just because it’s less normalized in their culture to talk about it. we all gotta work together to fix this shit.

I'm picturing Scooby in a t-shirt that says "Service Animal Do Not Pet" and he's frantically miming Shaggy's condition to passersby and intermittently waving Scooby-snacks under Shaggy's nose like smelling salts

Ok but it would fully make perfect sense if Shaggy had Graves disease or any other form of hyperthyroidism. Coz like his whole thing is he's hungry all the time and easily scared. Throw in common comorbidities like prediabetes and mitral valve prolapse and he'd qualify for a service dog by most place's rules. Hyperthyroidism also makes you really deeply anxious which might also explain a desire to 🍃self medicate🍃 not that being a stoner just because isn't also totally valid.
