I hate the push that you can quit addictions by pure willpower because it perpetuates the idea that people who can't have committed a moral failing of some kind. We all may know some people who did quit an addiction cold turkey, and with no aid, you may be one of them. And that's fantastic, but it is not the norm. It is more than okay to need help to quit an addiction. Relapse is also part of the process. Many people relapse several times before they are able to quit for good. Let's have compassion.

Yep! They’ve done several at this point (all exclusively in cis women thus far), and many have lead to healthy births.

The main issue with uterine transplants for trans women is that the uterus needs to be anchored to Something, and so far that's needed to be a cervix. So, trans women can't currently get one using the current technology, but neither can cis women without a cervix or intersex women with CAIS as an example (everything above the mid-vaginal canal doesn't generate). So some more development will be needed before uterine transplants can be expanded to more people :) but that's really the main barrier right now!

apparently if a mother dog has a singleton puppy and you can’t quickly get other same-age puppies to be its foster siblings then you have to do all kinds of shit to ensure it grows up with a well-developed nervous system and social skills, including “filling socks with stuffing and shoving it around while it tries to nurse” which is both hilarious and a nightmare
