SAMARA WEAVING as GRACE LE DOMAS

A few new characters have been introduced to the fold already. Dolls’ friend, Eliza Shapiro and Jeremy Chetri. I know Eliza only lasts the one episode but Jeremy made it clear he deserved to be on the team the moment he sacrificed himself for Waverly in the lab. And you know it wasn’t because he had a crush on her because that dude is as gay as the sky is blue. He does it because he is a good guy. He belongs with the heroes and not the always morally questionable BBD.

Waverly’s possessed by Mictian and I can’t tell whether Waverly has a problem with Nicole being a part of Black Badge or Gooverly does at the moment because Dom plays the ambiguity of being possessed well and there’s just too many fake outs to be sure whose motivations and opinions are whose right now.

Wynonna’s still dealing with the trauma of having to put Willa down with Peacemaker and therefore isn’t at the top of her game and is biting at everyone. Her anger is understandable because of her pain and Waverly - even while possessed - could see that because she knows the way she “deals” all too well. By pushing all her emotions aside to be there for others. This time Dolls, who is locked up in a containment unit in Black Badge headquarters ready to be shipped to Black Rock prison and is in deep withdrawal from the drugs that keep him alive and functioning as human.

But the most important thing of all. Honestly, it’s absolutely crucial to the storyline. Doc lost his hat.

I really like this opener to Season 2. It’s a good one. New characters, new arcs for all the characters and a lot of exciting narratives and themes are emerging. When you understand the tone, you can actually see how well-written and thought out this show really is.

And it’s a hell of a lot of fun to watch at the same time.
