Oklahoma wants to legalize corporal punishment for disabled children and I wasn’t surprised but i could not accurately word why I wasn’t but this video sums up why I wasn’t perfectly
Not only is the tiktoker here right about this already being the reality everywhere, it specifically was already legally the reality in this case. From what I’m seeing, corporal punishment was already legally allowed to be used against students with disabilities*. A bill was proposed to finally ban the practice and it was rejected.
To be clear, it is against the RULES set out be the State Department of Education, but it’s not against the LAW
(*it may actually be legal for all students, but the bill was specifically trying to protect students with disabilities as the lawmaker proposing it apparently didn’t want to “tackle” that this session.)
Shoutout to NYC Mayor Eric Adams for apparently believing himself to be divinely ordained as mayor, opposing the separation of church and state and blaming school shootings on the removal of Christian prayers from schools

So on top of all the other issues with banning abortions, I’m now thinking about what’s going to happen to people who are sick and become pregnant, specifically irt medication.
Like when I was on seizure meds there were some that had side effects that could terminate a pregnancy or do significant harm to a fetus.
Will pregnant people be forced off their meds to protect a fetus? Will people get kicked off pain killers, psychiatric drugs, chemotherapy, HIV medication? Like I’m thinking back to all the ads I’ve heard for medications and how many of them state that possible side effects include harm to a fetus or pregnancy termination. Will every single one of those be off-limits to pregnant people?
Will chronically ill people be forced to sacrifice years of stability? Will people with acute illnesses receiving life-saving treatment be forced to die? Will people who continue to take meds that harm the fetus they will not be permitted to abort, will they face jail for the resulting miscarriage, the side effect of a necessary medication?
And believe me, I know the answer to all of these questions. But they’re questions that need asking because they’re questions people need to think about
