does anyone else find it ironic that the same fandom going through mental gymnastics to claim Akito wasn't misogynistic at all ever in his life is also the same fandom that will claim you are misogynistic if you dare to not acknowledge certain mxf friendships are meant to be romantic. Just found that a little funny. Ngl
It's such a weird double standard. Like we're always calling people misogynistic over stuff that honestly? Doesn't warrant it half the time. But the second a character who is literally written with this as a part of his characterisation suddenly we can't fathom that this would be the case and we have to jump through hoops to prove that he would never and could never act this way. Is it bad if I say I noticed a lot of the people doing said mental gymnastics under my post specifically were prople who shipped Akito with one of the girls. I'm guessing some people took it as an attack on their ship? (Genuinely no offense to anyone who likes akito/an akito/kohane ships this is just an observation of like 5 twitter users).
It's always the vbs and wxs girls that get this weird treatment like I've seen multiple people on twt recently having to fight tooth and nail for their lesbian headcanons for those girls because people genuinely can't accept it and will say you're invalidating their friendships with men (because of course women can't be friends with men without attraction). Something something misogyny bleeds through the cracks of everyday interaction but sure let's keep throwing around baseless accusations of misogyny (there's other issues here too, obviously. Kinda unrelated to your point srry it just came to mind). It's always the vbs wxs girls getting into these problems not just over lesbian headcanons but just discourse over unit relationships and it's always the male characterss at the axis.
Idk I think everyone's aware of the misogyny with like fantasista oshis and whatevers going on with the ao3 (i assume it's still going on. Haven't checked in a year or so atp) but there's so many other small things. People can be really weird about the male-female relationships in the mixed gender units (not ship wise specifically just in general).
