like yeah i really do think he had extreme and crippling guilt about wanting that girl so bad his whole life when she was literally raised since birth to follow his every command and he swore to himself no matter how he felt he'd never lay a finger on her...

mind you i think post-game EVERYONE'S relationship dynamics are fucked up. everybody hurt everybody at some point and everyone feels guilty about everything and nobody can talk to each other. i think my ideal sdr2 postgame is not a retread of in-game dynamics (it's why i'm not really a fan of extremely meek or ostracized mikan postgame. i just don't think it tracks so much if she REMEMBERS her despair memories, even if she is not actively in despair and renounces it...), i would rather have EVERYONE shaken up. the world ended! nothing is the same and nothing should be... peko and fuyuhiko should not be able to hold a conversation for weeks. their relationships got so jumbled in despair it broke the status quo of everything. but it's also like, two seconds ago they were in the game and still living in their first year bodies and minds, playing all their old parts. you wake up and you're twentysomething and you've ended the whole entire world and hurt or killed everyone you've ever loved... all your relationships are Fucked Up

secretly interwoven between the lines of this post is my long-held and deeply unpopular belief that hiyoko and mikan would become close post-game but ibuki and mikan would NOT be able to talk to each other at all

actually the only relationship in all of danganronpa that i believe is feasibly going to end in marriage postcanon is saimaki. no one else. #SpeakingMyTruth

obviously this is only possible after several years of fraught and painful postgame codependency where they spend every night in the same bed never really addressing how they feel about each other or their dead first loves but also both sharing in their grief AND taking their grief out on each other in a complicated messy brutal and sexually tumultuous love affair that legitimately terrifies himiko to the point where she holds an intervention or multiple interventions about it but they can't stop until it eventually implodes and shuichi and maki stop speaking for an extended period of time before eventually one day returning to each other after extensive soul-searching and personal growth because at the end of the day they are best friends who both want and need each other and nothing can change that #MYTRUTH
