My partner wanted me to draw Korra since I drew the Red Lotus crew, and I have been wanting to draw Season 3 finale Korra for a while but I just never thought I could do her justice because really, that is something that can only be appreciated in movement :’D The animation in that finale is spectacular.

Yeah right, Korra is so bored. 

Haha! That last frame is actually a crop of a bigger illustration, which is still being colored at the moment. I wasn’t able to finish it because I suddenly thought of this humorously suggestive outtake, and I just had to draw it out. It was good practice anyway, in terms of visual storytelling through subtleties in gesture, framing and body language. (I swear those little creative decisions can be so much harder than what the sketch actually looks!) 

Anyway, I should finish the main image. Don’t worry, the real illustration is more sober than this juvenile drivel. Haha!

Hey guys, I received a really interesting submission from somebody with a very personal experience/connection to the scene where Hiroshi tries to kill Asami in the mech suits.  This is beautifully articulated and quite eye-opening. It really serves to highlight the significance of Asami’s actions and eventual forgiveness of Hiroshi.

Can I selfishly talk about this for more than a moment? One of the things I love about fiction is the little ways it can worm it’s way past all our defenses and make us think about the things we tend to guard ourselves against. 

There are a million and one ways in which I’ve found myself drawn to and relating to the character of Asami Sato. It’s funny to think that a second watching of a cartoon and a blog post of gifs would make me reflect on moments I’ve tried to put out of my mind for almost 11 years. 

While my life might not match blow by blow (my father is an amazing man that wouldn’t hurt a fly, much less me), I have with someone else experienced a deep and hurtful violation of trust that was both mentally and physically harmful.
