black sails is a tragedy of varying degrees of severity for every character because itās about the irreconcilability of survival according to someone elseās rules vs staying truthful to yourself and those you love. There is no real happy ending in that scenario and thatās why itās so heartbreaking and yet enjoyable because it makes me feel seen in a way no other show has, it gets it. Itās not optimistic but it is wish fulfillment in some sense because itās validating to watch a show for people who experience the world that way, and seeing the little victories in the midst of something that feels so truthful is incredibly satisfying
i think what some people tend to not realize is that silverās repression is like a HUGE part of his dynamic w flint. silver is so completely unwilling to do any kind of self reflection which we see based on the whole likeĀ āmy past is irrelevantā you know its a really fascinating thing to build a character on but itās also deeply deeply unhealthy like silver utterly refuses to reflect on a past that he says explicitly was full ofĀ āunending horrorsā like the actual nature of that trauma aside itās a really important part of silverās character that he refuses to reckon with it! he refuses to deal with the fact that even though his past was awful itās still part of him and instead chooses to ignore his past and remake himself whenever he wants to.
this is such a good point and i think its all part of the same thing like what silver wants is to be free but in a very personal and specific and individual way he wants to be free from pain and fear and he considers being Seen by other people as an affront to that freedom. so when he is disabled and he becomes immediately recognizable and then that goes along w him becoming recognizable as long john silver and all that entails (hands identifies him by saying ur the man w one leg long john silver) he absolutely HATES it he doesnāt want to be a pirate or disabled or bisexual bc all of these things would marginalize him would make him truly visible and that is the most terrifying thing in the world to him.Ā
and all that is probably even relevant to his traumaā¦i dont usually speculate on what he went thru but i think it would cast a very interesting light on his present actions if what he went thru was violence based on being Noticed like severe child abuse and/or political marginalization like iāve seen headcanons of him being irish or jewish and i think both of those fit really really well and it would make sense why he would totally reject those identities later in life
Write fanfiction guiltlessly. Do it not only because itās good practice, not only because you donāt feel like putting your energy into original stuff, but because you do feel like putting your energy into fandom. Write fanfics of epic proportions or tiny one-shots; write fluff or angst or cliches or tropes; publish the roughest version or keep the twelfth draft for only yourself. Do it without feeling bad. You owe no one anything; the act of creation is a gift in and of itself, and it doesnāt matter if youāre creating fanfic or original stories or whatever else you want. All that matters is you enjoy it, because why else would you do it at the end of the day?
Write fanfiction guiltlessly.

Summary: Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes have always been in love, but they never had the guts to tell each other how they really feel.Ā
In 1943, Steve has to watch his best friend cross the ocean while he's left behind.
In 1945, Sergeant James Barnes is declared MIA.
In 1946, Bucky comes home from the war.Ā
Or: the one where the serum doesn't exist, recovery is a long way ahead and Bucky can't cope with the darkness he's sure is hidden between his ribs and his heart. Steve, bless him, refuses to see it. And oh so slowly, Bucky starts to believe him. Read on AO3 | Art by rachmorganart | Ā Art by Eliiarusso

Sebastian truly is the most humble, down to heart, inspiring and bright person I've ever had the good fortune of meeting. Even if briefly, even if for a singularity in time.
I'm beyond moved: I'm grateful and touched and utterly sad and devastated now that I have to come down to earth once again.
Seb, I do hope you manage to read my letter. But even if you don't, "I'll know where I am, and that's the most important thing". For now, thank you for the ride. It's been a blast āØāØ
There are characters you like but then there are characters you end up thinking about in the middle of the night with a cosmic ache in your chest because they resonate with you so much
So who else misses 2012 and the āthey all live in the tower and tony made them separate floorsā fanfics after seeing that shit fire angsty trailer
Bold of you to assume Iāve ever moved on from this
Fam, 2013 Avengers fandom is still lit, idk what to tell you. We stopped at Winter Soldier long enough to pick up Bucky and Sam and havenāt looked back since.
This is the shit I started reading and itās the shit I love to write. Iām here for it always and forever
this is my heaven and it will always be
Honestly, Clint sleeping in the vents, Thor and his pop tarts, Bucky and Steve sharing a floor, Sam basically being the therapist of the whole Avengers Compound.. This shit's eternal.

A Steve endgame ending I would have actually liked (and would have done justice to everyone invovled and their stories)
Steve goes back to deliver the infinity stones, of course he does.
But he drops by at the Stork Club. A week the Saturday after he initially went into the ice. 8PM. Heās only a few minutes late, and Peggy is still waiting.
And they dance. They have their dance, their moment together, their what-could-Have-been.
But Steve knows he has to go. Peggy knows it too, sheās a smart gal, Steveās best gal. She knows that there are great things ahead for both of them, great happinesses and sadnesses but also great lives and loves. For both of them. She recognises that while the time and the love they shared together was beautiful, it was not meant to last. Theyāve had their time; theyāve had their dance.
And itās hard and itās sad and itās awful but they both know itās the right thing to do.
And then quietly, Steve returns to the present. He returns to his future, to his start-over. His chance, now, to lead his life.
He gives Sam the shield. He deserves it, heās been a loyal friend and heās more than capable and deserving of it. He will be a great Cap, and Steve has done more than enough fighting now. Itās time for a break.
And so he retires to a quiet life. Gets a job at a local shop, adopts a cute little dog, and is always on hand to help out the local kids with anything they need.
And he gets to spend time with Bucky. Bucky, his best friend, his home, the person who is most closely connected to his soul. They finally get a chance to figure this out between themselves. Whatever this is. That love, that connection, whatever it was that kept them going, that made them break through brainwashing or drop the shield for 100 years. That unspoken thing that was so wrong back in their time but now maybe, just maybe, is ok.
And thereās a lot to learn. A lot of feelings to sort through and categorise and things to figure out but they do it. They do it because they have the time, and they ending and the opportunity that they deserve, that theyāve worked so hard for.
Peggy is allowed her life, in her time. She is allowed the family she built for herself, she is allowed to fall in love with another man, her husband, she is allowed her career as founder of SHIELD. She is allowed the opportunities to grow as a person and to forge a life for herself. She is allowed the happiness that she found, that she made. And she knows, deep down somewhere, that Steve is happy too. That Steve got the quiet life, and the love, he deserves. And sheās happy for that.
And Steve knows that Peggy was happy. That she lived her life to the full and she experienced joy. Itās the only thing heād want for his best girl.
Everyone involved is emotionally (and often physically) battered and bruised. Theyāve been through a lot. But theyāve carved out their own happiness. Theyāve been given the dignity of the chance to make their own lives, to write their own endings.
And life goes on.

āIām with you till the end of the lineā my ass
Like seriously, throughout the whole movie Cap didnāt even speak a word to Bucky whom he has more complicated and overall better written story arc with than with Peggy.
And donāt @ me ācouse thatās just how it is, she even says in - I believe it was 'The Winter Soldierā that - and I quote - 'The world has changed, and none of us can go back. All we can do is our best, and sometimes the best that we can do is to start overā - which means that basically when one thing ends another thing starts which could be used to portray their story together - their ways parted and Steve - after being brought back to live found his best bud Bucky.
Besides, in the previous movies he never really acted like Peggy was as important to him as Bycky was - he might have loved her, but it seemed as if he had already moved on with his live.
And donāt get me wrong - Iām not saying that I wanted to see them do the gay sex or making out for an hour and a half on screen or anything like that - I just wanted a satisfactory ending for both of them and they didnāt even have a single scene dedicateted to themselfes - itās not like they hadnāt seen each other in a very long time, one of them spent the events of 'The First Avengerā, 'The Winter Soldierā, and 'Civil Warā just hanging around/protecting the other who was lately dusted and then brought back to live by a miracle or anything.
All Iām saying is that it feelt like Steve just straight up yeeted Bucky for the matter of a woman who was perfectly fine with or without him - she moved on, and that for me personally Steve felt really out of the character with the whole 'Peggyā thing in 'Endgameā.

I'm just gonna use ATLA as an example. M.Night COMPLETELY RUINED that movie. But where's the light on that? The writers had no choice but to watch it happen. All I'm saying is there are underlying factors we don't know about. You can't just call the writers assholes cause they didn't do this or that. There's more to it than we know. The movie's over and we need to accept it and get over it.
I'm not calling anyone an asshole. But as a fan and as as someone who highly cares about Steve, I believed I am entitled to my own opinion as much as I was entitled to a conclusion that worked for the character. You're right, there might be tons of reasons we don't know about, and if they'll open up about them I'll be happy to listen and I might even understand them. Who knows.
But as far as things goes, and given the information, the material and the arc of the character, I don't believe it's right to treat them as if they could do whatever bullshit they wanted with the character and not have to respond for it. I don't wanna sound really harsh, but everyone's got responsability, and keeping together Steve's arc was a responsability, as far as we know now.
This being said, when and if they'll say something about it, I'll be the first happy to listen.

I totally get your Steve post. But do you believe EVERY movie producer has followed a book/comic completely into the adaptation? Most likely they ignored hid ark was to wrap up the series. I've seen movies ruin books and comic worse than this. Do you really think there would another CA movie? It's been 11 years and ALL the characters have been through so much. It's wrap up to give an ending and imagine for ourselves what happens after.
I get what you mean, and I certainly wasn't expecting a new Cap movie. I knew he was, literally, at the end of the line and that they had to make sure that he couldn't come back in any way. But this is a very stupid way to make sure of that, for all the reasons listed in my post.
And I understand what you said about writers not always paying attention to a character's arc, but I don't believe this is a justification. They are paid to do so, and whether they created these characters and stories or someone else did, they still owe us an effort and coherence.
Yes, they needed to wrap things up, I get that. But they managed it perfectly for everyone, why not with Steve? Honestly, it's not difficult to realise that there's something so terribly wrong, I believe that they didn't care enough and just elected to ignore it.
Just a clarification
For all those against the #notmysteve hashtag, I just wanted to make clear:
-It's NOT because we ship Stucky. It has nothing to do with our ship. Not even everyone sharing the hashtag is a Stucky shipper, and that's the point.
-This is NOT against Chris Evans. Chris is an amazing actor and a beautiful human being and he will always be our Captain.
-It's NOT true that we don't want a happy ending for Steve, or that we don't want him to come home from the war, and be selfish for once in his life. We DO want this, very very much. Steve deserves to be selfish. What he didn't deserve is his character being turned into a OOC mess and his arc destroyed in 5 minutes of bad choices.
