people are really saying things like "we all make mistakes" about politicians histories like ok but my mistakes are being rude in middle school and theirs are committing war crimes, these do not merit the same level of forgiveness

"shouldn't we all be allowed to learn and grow???" I don't think youve quite grasped the importance of not letting people run a fucking country when they have a history of directly causing needless deaths, that should automatically disqualify you from ever working in politics again

also, learning from your mistakes generally requires either 1) feeling genuine remorse or 2) experiencing consequences, which politicians usually don't
