It's Inky, back with another blog! (I really need to clean up my blogs, heh.)
I hope to use this blog to post fics I've made that I'm excited for, to post drabbles too small for AO3 (that I might expand into a proper fic if enough people like the drabble!), and to reblog fics/drabbles from other authors that I admire.

My personal goal is to try and make fanfic binding as accessible to everyone as possible, so here are some resources on how to make a fanfic hardcover for under $25.
This is a barebones bind for the broke college students and such. Happy to field questions, too!
Here's a proposed budget breakdown:
Loosely organized thoughts:
Fanfic bookbinders often share typesets amongst each other. Never pay for a typeset for a fanfic.
You'll hear a lot about grain direction for your printer paper, but as a newbie on a budget without your own printer, settle for some nice 92 bright paper. If you like the hobby, splurge after but expect to pay at least 2-3x more for short grain paper.
Printing is a pain because some copy shops won't let you print intellectual property smut, and it's very expensive. You are better off bartering instead or looking for a free printer on Buy Nothing.
You know the thick paper wrapping that comes with online orders? It's a good weight for endpapers if you need to scrounge. Paper grocery bags or gift bags (birthday presents) might work, too.
Ask your local library to give you covers from books they are throwing out. Ask for outdated textbooks (those covers are built like tanks) or three-ring binders that are too busted to be binders anymore.
Obtain a used book that was mass produced (so your destruction of it does not impede anyone's access) and maybe even become a little vindictive with it.
If you can afford it, I recommend the Olfa SVR knife (~$10)
If you can afford it, upgrade your ruler to a t-square.
I really hope this resource is helpful! I want to stress how possible this is and encourage people to cherish what they love through art.
If you are interested in fanfic binding and have a little more disposable income, I have an affordable Fan Fiction Bookbinding Starter Pack that I carry on my site. I pack them myself and drop them 1x/month on the 15th.

Idek how long it's been since I last posted one of these, but I'm finally feeling settled after all the life changes. Returning to old hobbies at long last :))
Tagging you all back for this week + @wispstalk @zupergoddess @justafoxhound @kookaburra1701 @thequeenofthewinter @gilgamish @dark-brotherhoe @ladytanithia
Back on my Lucien/Nim crack-fic bullshit:
In his heart, Lucien knows such softness has no place in the Dark Brotherhood, but he can’t bring himself to leave despite her transgressions, despite her weakness. And he resents her for it, that she can walk away when he will be repairing what they unmade for the rest of his days.
Here they are, fighting the same battle against loss, desperate to preserve the last gangrenous limb. Together, they cling to what the grave has already claimed. Proof that no one truly buries their family in the ground. They carry them on their back, in their chest, forever.
At night, Lucien lies awake beside Nimileth, clutching the fleeting warmth of her body. His heart beat slows as the heat of the day wanes, and he wonders how long the memory of a person, of a feeling, could substitute for the pulse of the real thing. Fear and anger overwhelm him, dragging his addled mind to exhaustion, and it’s moments like these where he swears he hears a voice— her voice or something not unlike her voice— clear and cold as a night breeze.
“Listener,” it says, “your family is ruined. Your family is dead, and you are too.”
My work on the Jemane saga continues! Out of order! But I don't care! This bit's a doozy...

Under the cut because of wooooo scary (it's kinda long for my usual wip postings!)
Guilbert tried to stand and felt his leg seize with a pang of heat localized in the thigh area. He yelped and forced himself upright anyway, limping after the others. He saw them running down the hall that seemed to naturally grow longer as Guilbert stared down the length.
That… that thing had killed one of the bandits… and it was probably going to kill Guilbert next, since he was easy prey now. He was going to die. Guilbert could feel himself surrendering, his senses acquiesing to focusing solely upon the pain save for the sole overwhelming sensation of his heart rattling its bony cage.
As he struggled to keep up, all but two of the bandits had disappeared from sight. Those two were [name] and the leader. Not a single one of them had looked back when they heard Guilbert yelling.
Their indifference made Guilbert realize horribly that this is likely what they had hired him for. To die.
He was going to die.
"DON'T LEAVE ME!" Guilbert sobbed, barely noticing his tears amid all the sweating. "PLEASE! I MUST GO HOME TO MY BROTHER!"
It was mildly surprising to see the leader slow down instead of the other straggler. He watched her coppery hair stop bobbing as she came to a halt.
"He's all I have left..!" Guilbert said, sounding more like he was whimpering.
She turned and Guilbert could see now that her expression lie somewhere between angered and horrified. As she bolted back towards him, Guilbert felt his leg buckle. He collapsed once more swiftly after.
"Get up…." She growled, already putting hands on Guilbert to lift him up.
"Thank you," Guilbert rasped. "I think I can- wuh?!"
With a grunt, the boss had lifted Guilbert into her arms. His legs dangled over her elbow and he could feel her strain a little to keep his back up. He leaned his head on her shoulder and her grip on his back eased.
She was sprinting again, releasing heavy puffs of air and curses under what little of her breath remained as she began to retread lost ground.

a return to form! well... kind of. it's more jemane nonsense but not of the sunstride variety. Or is it sunstride-adjacent? I dunno. XD
The sudden motion of flame snapping from Jesan's fingers to the tinder startled Guilbert. He restrained from jumping to his feet but felt his legs still tense up as though they had wanted to begin running another direction regardless.
Jesan said nothing save that his eyes gazed apologetically.
"To tell you the truth," Guilbert said with an exhale. "I am nervous. There's nothing in the world that could prepare me to meet the familiar stranger that is my brother."
The two chuckled lightly as though not to disturb the renewed flames crackling in front of them.
"I know the feeling. I don't know what I'm going to say to my sister once I see her again." Jesan began messing with his hair, running both hands through to push the strands back out of his face. "She left a few years ago and I haven't seen her since."
Guilbert frowned. "Where are the two of you from?"
"We're from Skingrad." Jesan simply said.
Guilbert slightly cocked his head to the side. "What were you doing all the way over in Cheydinhal then?"
This time, Jesan sighed before speaking. "I have to get my recommendations. Even though I already miss the fields and strolling through the streets smelling Salmo's next batch of bread. I was going to go to Anvil after Chorrol but meeting your brother at the tavern… I knew I had to help out."
"Thank you." It was said with much warmth, for Guilbert could see the earnest pain in Jesan's eyes. "I hope you find your sister, Jesan. If I was not about to have my hands full with my own brother, I'd gladly offer to accompany you to search."
Jesan chuckled. "The pleasure is mine, Guilbert… though I think I'll be fine. I know she's out there somewhere. My sister is a tough sort— honestly, I'd accept your help if I wasn't unsure she'd want to tie you up like some sort of livestock."
Guilbert blinked. Tie him up?
Jesan laughed again. "She's—! Miraina's a bit of a ruffian, but the kind you can't help except to love. She's knocked out some of my teeth, but she's knocked out plenty more teeth from those who tried to hurt me when we were children."
"…Why would she want to tie me up?" Guilbert scratched the side of his head. "If I'm helping you…" He did not particularly understand— or enjoy— the way Jesan simply shrugged at him.

For more information/details, see the pinned post.
[breaks into your dash like the Kool-aid man] OH YEAH! It's Wipsday, folks, and so here I am again crashing into your personal space with my favorite dolls. [jazz hands] (Listen, I have to make these intros fun for myself.) Ahem, have some more of my mad ramblings.
Gently hugging: @babydinosaur930 @inkoherentwriting @theoneandonlysemla @blossom-adventures @starfleetteddybear and anyone else who might have some things. I have been feeling really self-conscious about tagging people as of late.
“Are you my mother now?” Dusty pink begins to rise in her cheeks, a trail of heat following the path the pad of his thumb takes. “Cleaning up after me and watching my back?”
“Only if your mother would drag you into a secret underground rebellion.” He smirks as he rises from his chair, hands brushing the remnants of breakfast off the front of his jacket. “I could perhaps get things done a little faster if you helped.”
“I could perhaps be persuaded to do so for a price.” She returns his smile easily.
“And what exactly would that be?” Anders motions her into the clinic, bodies already lining the walls just outside the door.
“Perhaps you could show me a thing or two about that magic of yours. I am pretty curious.”
“You mean spirit healing?”
“My father had mentioned it’s pretty rare as a skill.”
“There aren’t many of us, that much is true.” Anders leads an older man with greying hair to one of the cots in his makeshift examination room. “It was just myself an Wynne back at the Circle, and we had our own theories on specializations and where they come from.” He sets to work, hands pressing carefully across the body as he listens, a crackle emanating from deep in the man’s chest. “I don’t believe I have seen yours. Do you have one, Violet?”
It had been something which plagued her in the last year before her father passed—a specialty, one which has seemingly yet to manifest in her talents. Bethany had taken after their father with the gift of force magic, being able to push away objects as she pleased and smashing them to the ground at will. Violet, however—well, no matter how many books on magical theory she had studied or how many times she had practiced in the dead of night, she had never been able to move even the smallest of pebbles.
A long stretch of silence fills the room as Anders continues to press his hands into man in front of him before finally finding the source of his troubles—several cracked ribs shift as his patient winces. More than once he had seen it happen, a secondary magic which never manifests and more than one mage made tranquil for it. His brows furrow. Usually, those mages never showed any ability for more advanced magics, but he has seen for himself her use of elemental spells at secondary levels—even her weaving them in creative ways the enchanters of the Circle never could have imagined with their boxed ways of thinking.
“Watch what I do and follow me.” A soft blue glow envelops Anders’ hands, and he pushes carefully into the man’s chest as he begins to draw from the Fade.
