(An event that happened prior to the Phoenix Wars and the second Battle for Darkshore…)

- Muroco Rockhoof kicked the trunk of an already dead, lifeless treant away from the road.

Several covered wagons drawn by pack kodos lumbered behind him as they ventured through the gloomy forests of Darkshore. It had been at least two months since Teldrassil had been set aflame, and now the once vibrant tree jutted out in the horizon as an angry, charred-black pillar, its colossal branches still emanating smoke that billowed in the sky. While the Horde had roundly defeated the night elves, their spirits had not been broken. To ensure their dominance in the continent, the Horde needed to consolidate their positions in northern Ashenvale and Darkshore as a whole, lest the Alliance managed to rally themselves and push them back to square one.

1. Use an RP addon for character profiles to identify other RPers. Total Roleplay 3 is an excellent choice

2. Enter the scene with a friend or two for an easier introduction. Build a little network of RP friends and make yourself approachable and encouraging as a fellow writer

3. Check the forums for public RP events you could consider attending if that’s your thing. They can be very inspirational

4. It helps being flexible as a writer and mindful of other people’s ideas. It’s a team effort to RP, so Out Of Character communication is important!

5. /say, /yell and /emote are the commonly used In Character chat channels.

6. Personally I try to stay up to date with the game lore, but I think there’s lots of room for improv with how much or how little you want to use it for your writing.

7. Stay out of Goldshire.

i said the same thing back when sylvanas burned the tree, too. it’s good that you were angry and upset. that’s the point. what she did was horrible and left everybody confused. blizzard can only tell so much of the story at once, but had said the cinematic would show that sylvanas was morally gray. we thought they meant warbringers, but clearly they mean reckoning. she isn’t morally gray as in ‘neutral’; she’s morally gray as in we don’t know what her morals are. but now they are clear. she has always been self-serving, but now she is no longer serving the horde OR the forsaken.  

that’s the whole point of flag girl/banner bae/tink-tink in the cinematic. when sylvanas says, “the horde is nothing,” her voice echoes. you know everyone there heard her. (i also cried.) but they dont show the shocked and enraged faces of saurfang and thrall (iconic horde characters), or even anduin. they show her stalwart flagbearer’s look of disbelief. a forsaken everyman. one of her own. someone who serves her, someone who she swore she would protect. her people, the forsaken. she betrayed her people.

from the moment you make a forsaken, you know that “subterfuge and deceit” are the modus operandi for your branch of the horde. you know that sylvanas has her own “dark plans”, and that she has enlisted these free-willed forsaken like yourself to be part of it.

when putress and the wrathgate happened, sylvanas claimed it was mutiny, and that pacified us. when she was raising more forsaken, we thought, “This is to protect our homeland, to make sure it is ours. At least she is giving the new ones a choice.” When she sought to enslave Eyir, we thought, “This is for our benefit. She is just trying to help us.” But when she killed her own people on the steps of Lordaeron and blighted our home, that was when we knew we were refugees again. Some did have faith and stayed loyal, and they too were discarded and further betrayed. these npcs are her stans in-universe!!! it is in character and canon that they were betrayed! 

the subterfuge and deceit turned on its own. we are no longer part of her plan. many forsaken predicted this (both player characters and NPCs as far back as vanilla), but no matter what they thought the reality is that there is now nowhere for us to go. we can only hope that the horde will still accept us.

if you are looking into reasons why sylvanas “changed”, you are looking at it not from the eyes of her people, but from her own selfish actions. you were tricked, too, into thinking that any of her actions were for the benefit of the forsaken.

“but she cares about her sisters!” great! but they aren’t forsaken. “but she raised nathanos and seems to care about or be in love with him!” great! but he was one of the rangers she knew from life. he’s not an everyday forsaken/lordaeron citizen. “but she said a nice thing to an orc orphan!” scraping the bottom of the barrel, are we? still not forsaken.

One of their lead writers is christie golden and she wrotr Rise of the Horde which released before wow even came out

when fantasy books describe the cloth of Quant Farmpeople’s clothing as “homespun” or “rough homespun”

“homespun” as opposed to what??? EVERYTHING WAS SPUN AT HOME

they didn’t have fucking spinning factories, your pseudo-medieval farmwife is lucky if she has a fucking spinning wheel, otherwise she’s spinning every single thread her family wears on a drop spindle NO ONE ELSE WAS DOING THE SPINNING unless you go out of your way to establish a certain baseline of industrialization in your fake medieval fantasy land.

and “rough”??? lol just because it’s farm clothes? bitch cloth was valuable as fuck because of the labor involved ain’t no self-respecting woman gonna waste fiber and ALL THAT FUCKING TIME spinning shitty yarn to weave into shitty cloth she’s gonna make GOOD QUALITY SHIT for her family, and considering that women were doing fiber prep/spinning/weaving for like 80% of their waking time up until very recently in world history, literally every woman has the skills necessary to produce some TERRIFYINGLY GOOD QUALITY THREADS

 In Ye Olde Medieval Fantasy Dayes, everybody’s layer against skin (shirt tunic or shift) is gonna be linen. it’s almost never wool except stockings or hose (like pant legs). Say “undyed cloth” if you wanna make them sound simple and peasanty. Comment on how you can tell it wasn’t made for them (the fit is off) and has had probably eight owners before. 

Outer clothing is gonna be either wool, or a blend called Linsey-woolsey, and again you could say Undyed, but dyes are not only common they are CHEAP and relatively easy. (innerwear is often left undyed or bleached to white because it gets washed to heck- like beaten by a wooden stick on a stone by the river- and dye would just fade out a lot so why bother. Ths is also why innerwear has ties, rarely buttons, unless you are so rich you have people doing your washing delicately because they’re hired to do only that. Buttons would get broken in the washing)
