She nervously peers up at the vague source of the sound. Hey, the sky is kinda red…

…really red. The splattered patterns are like a Pollock painting made of blood. How does that even work?

The presence retreats slightly for a moment, before pulling Iris into a separate…”room”? It doesn’t really have walls. There is a table and two chairs in the middle, code fracturing around it.

Something materializes in the chair across from Iris.

Where does one even start asking that…thing questions?

“Uh…

The shape seems to contort, right and left and inside out all at once. It’s definitely moving, but Iris can’t tell how it’s moving.

“I don’t have the time for meaningless noise to fill this conversation. I know you have more to ask. Give me more.”

The entity flickers for a moment.

“According to them, ‘S’ stands for ‘Spectre’. Why don’t we talk about something else?”

It opens a window and makes a static noise. One of disgust? One of annoyance? Hard to tell.

The dead(or at least unconscious) body of a certain cultist drops into the “room” and the Spectre quickly puts them in their second life form, throwing them back into the round.

“There we are, child.” It says in a voice not its own. Too smooth. Too gentle.

It turns back to face Iris.

The fact that it’s willing to answer, no, that it WANTS her to pry, makes Iris even more on edge. Why would it reveal more about itself? Surely that wouldn’t be great for it, the survivors knowing so much. Jane is working on escaping, after all, and had silently appreciated Iris’s information on the realm’s workings.

Why her, actually? Why not someone more determined and fearless like Jane, or even Elliot? They’d be far better at this. Maybe this thing just gets a kick out of watching her cower.

Speaking of Elliot, where is he getting all of these theories from? Oh, no matter. She’s snapped out of this wondering by Two Time’s pale, thin corpse flopping onto the floor. The entity’s soft, reassuring voice as it takes care of them almost lulls her into a false sense of security, sending shivers of revulsion down her spine. She grips her coat lapels, arms guarding her body.

It makes a sound that can only be described as an “analog scoff”.

“I choose based on interest, especially if there is something that is able to twist into more… emotional things. Something to make your deaths more painful. This realm of mine is just so entertaining. The only irritating part is move sets.”

It is suddenly perfectly still, staring at Iris.

“And the administrators…They are more ‘fun’. I currently have 6, only half are finished, however. I’ll add the rest when things start getting bland.”

The entity seems distracted, almost, as it pops open another window and keeps ‘glancing’ down at it. The assistant’s voice whispers gibberish to her from somewhere.

The mass of code pauses, then flickers for a moment. A cup of black coffee proceeds to appear on the table.

Hands slightly trembling, Iris grabs the steaming cup of coffee. She takes a sip, trying to ignore the bitterness and the fact that she burned her tongue.

“Ahhh… !”

Iris gives an awkward smile.

“So where did you #ComeFrom exactly ?

Were you #Created like 1x ? #Born ? Or did you just #PopIn one day ?”

It pauses.

“I was created. By an admin.”

“Oh so kinda like 1x

You and I starts playing, very quietly from below.

It opens up a window(causing the music to be pulled up to a normal volume) and puts it off to the side, glancing over occasionally.

Despite her frustration, this was helpful. It was created like 1x, but closed off about it. Wonder why…

She peeks out the window and sees Jane, faced with her now-monstrous husband, trying to survive. Her bravery and resilience is admirable, but even she hesitates.

“Do you just…#WatchUs all day ?

It doesn’t elaborate.

“I simply oversee your suffering.”

The music stops short, and the entity grabs a microphone on a stand out of seemingly nowhere.

Its voice shifts again as it speaks, though less noticeable that when it was impersonating the Spawn.

Iris sits there in silence for a bit. What to ask…?

Something she’s been wondering for a long time.

It breaks into what Iris can assume is a laugh, staticky and uncontrolled. The humanoid shape of the code distorts wildly before calming down.

“…Hm. Let’s see, shall we?”

It pulls out a file. An actual paper file, and places it on the table.

“So what #Questions am I allowed to ask then ?

…One moment.”

Oh, hey Two Time is back. They immediately fall to their knees and let out a tiny, pathetic sob.

“Already? I’d have thought you’d last longer, child.”

They’re shaking. Wonder what that could be about.

It’s not like a new killer released while the two were talking or anything, right?

A voice cuts through the air like a knife, but none of the other nearby survivors seem to hear it as it booms from the sky.

“Hello, detective.”

Iris yelps and stumbles over herself. What the hell…?!

She’s quaking in her boots penny loafers, notebook held tightly to her chest. She’s seen anons before, but never like this.

She nervously peers up at the vague source of the sound. Hey, the sky is kinda red…

…really red. The splattered patterns are like a Pollock painting made of blood. How does that even work?

The presence retreats slightly for a moment, before pulling Iris into a separate…”room”? It doesn’t really have walls. There is a table and two chairs in the middle, code fracturing around it.

Something materializes in the chair across from Iris.

Where does one even start asking that…thing questions?

“Uh…

The shape seems to contort, right and left and inside out all at once. It’s definitely moving, but Iris can’t tell how it’s moving.

“I don’t have the time for meaningless noise to fill this conversation. I know you have more to ask. Give me more.”

The slightest hint of irritation glazes its tone.

Wait…knowledge? Hell yeah! And it’s actually willing to answer! Was this some sort of trick?

A buzzing sound starts then stops. Some bits of binary code sputters out onto the table.

It looks like the stuff on the corrupted gunk on John Doe.

“It’s…mildly entertaining to watch you fall apart under just a bit of pressure, I will admit. But I started this for survival.”

“Wait

“That…Is a colleague of mine. They’re…useful.”

Yay I don’t die today

“…They’re the one that makes the joke skins.”

The assistant gets THROWN out of the pocket of code they’re in.

“Anything else? You’re quite amusing. Such a curious little mouse.”

Why are they making #Skins ?”

The entity flickers for a moment.

“According to them, ‘S’ stands for ‘Spectre’. Why don’t we talk about something else?”

“Well

It opens a window and makes a static noise. One of disgust? One of annoyance? Hard to tell.

“One moment.”

The dead(or at least unconscious) body of a certain cultist drops into the “room” and the Spectre quickly puts them in their second life form, throwing them back into the round.

“There we are, child.” It says in a voice not its own. Too smooth. Too gentle.

It turns back to face Iris.

The fact that it’s willing to answer, no, that it WANTS her to pry, makes Iris even more on edge. Why would it reveal more about itself? Surely that wouldn’t be great for it, the survivors knowing so much. Jane is working on escaping, after all, and had silently appreciated Iris’s information on the realm’s workings.

Why her, actually? Why not someone more determined and fearless like Jane, or even Elliot? They’d be far better at this. Maybe this thing just gets a kick out of watching her cower.

Speaking of Elliot, where is he getting all of these theories from? Oh, no matter. She’s snapped out of this wondering by Two Time’s pale, thin corpse flopping onto the floor. The entity’s soft, reassuring voice as it takes care of them almost lulls her into a false sense of security, sending shivers of revulsion down her spine. She grips her coat lapels, arms guarding her body.

It makes a sound that can only be described as an “analog scoff”.

“I choose based on interest, especially if there is something that is able to twist into more… emotional things. Something to make your deaths more painful. This realm of mine is just so entertaining. The only irritating part is move sets.”

It is suddenly perfectly still, staring at Iris.

“And the administrators…They are more ‘fun’. I currently have 6, only half are finished, however. I’ll add the rest when things start getting bland.”

The entity seems distracted, almost, as it pops open another window and keeps ‘glancing’ down at it. The assistant’s voice whispers gibberish to her from somewhere.

The mass of code places its ‘hands’ folded on the table.

She chooses to ignore the assistant and wipes her palms on her pants. She’d rather not get in trouble again.

At least it seems fine so far…maybe she can snoop a little.

The Spectre chuckles, or, at least, Iris thinks it does.

“Aren’t you a curious little one. If you must know, I am watching the killers. Specifically Azure and John Doe.”

It tilts its “head” at her.

“Though, considering how attached the devotee is…Wait until tomorrow for that.”

It is about to continue when the Assistant pops up again and starts screaming.

“…Get out.”

Why is the assistant so excited about Azure anyway ?

The entity pauses for a moment to get its code back into the shape it’s supposed to be in.

“The Assistant has had a lot of anticipation for the botanist. I have enjoyed delaying his release multiple times over.”

“How do you find interesting people for this #Realm anyway ?

The entity “chuckles”, code crackling.

#WhatsTheDeal with you and Two Time ?”

Its voice is almost gleeful.

The mass of code pauses, then flickers for a moment. A cup of black coffee proceeds to appear on the table.

“Drink up.”

Hands slightly trembling, Iris grabs the steaming cup of coffee. She takes a sip, trying to ignore the bitterness and the fact that she burned her tongue.

“Ahhh… !”

Iris gives an awkward smile.

“So where did you #ComeFrom exactly ?

Were you #Created like 1x ? #Born ? Or did you just #PopIn one day ?”

It pauses.

“I was created. By an admin.”

“Oh so kinda like 1x

Which #Admin ?”

You and I starts playing, very quietly from below.

“Oh. How interesting…”

It opens up a window(causing the music to be pulled up to a normal volume) and puts it off to the side, glancing over occasionally.

Despite her frustration, this was helpful. It was created like 1x, but closed off about it. Wonder why…

She peeks out the window and sees Jane, faced with her now-monstrous husband, trying to survive. Her bravery and resilience is admirable, but even she hesitates.

“Do you just…#WatchUs all day ?

It doesn’t elaborate.

“I simply oversee your suffering.”

The music stops short, and the entity grabs a microphone on a stand out of seemingly nowhere.

Its voice shifts again as it speaks, though less noticeable that when it was impersonating the Spawn.

Iris sits there in silence for a bit. What to ask…?

Something she’s been wondering for a long time.

It breaks into what Iris can assume is a laugh, staticky and uncontrolled. The humanoid shape of the code distorts wildly before calming down.

“…Hm. Let’s see, shall we?”

It pulls out a file. An actual paper file, and places it on the table.

“So what #Questions am I allowed to ask then ?
