As we approach tu b'shvat I'm thinking there's a reason Jewish holidays follow the agriculture calendar of a small stretch of land in the Middle East, and it's not because we come from New York
When I was a child growing up in Columbus Ohio, I learned a Tu Bโshvat song about the almond trees blooming, and me and my classmates were all so confused because it was cold and snowy in Ohio, but now I live in Israel, and I went on a hike yesterday in the Jerusalem hills, and the almond trees really are blooming
