So I've struggled with severe picky eating my whole life. I mean, i was always picky, but in the past few years I was down to about 3 meals I'd have to chose from for dinner. So I decided to try my best to eat new things. I'm going away for a week in September, and want to make sure I have enough choice to eat from the options.Â
It all seems a little silly, the same accomplishments made by toddlers, but i can now proudly say I can eat:
Chicken, fish, beef, pork, carrots, lettuce, apples, yoghurt, potatoes, omelette, tomatoes, cucumber, bread/rolls (white and brown!), mozerella pizza, soft cheese, cornflakes, rice crispies, toffee, gelatin, ice cream, chocolate, caramel, BBQ foods (like a food cooked specifically on a barbecue or a food done in bbq sauce, e.g. Today I tried bbq pulled pork, so it's named after the sauce it's done in).
This isn't an entirely complete list, but it was all the big hurdles I'd accomplished. Before I would order an adult portion of a kids nugget meal as my go to dining out meal. Now I can go to a traditional British resteraunt and eat in comfort, not feeling embarrassed and anxious about having to specially request a meal.
It also feels good, as it was a year ago I was so self conscious about my weight I was at my lowest food intake ever, I was only eating approximately 500 calories a day. I'm a lot better in terms of weight issues, I've stuck to the same weight for about 8 months which makes me feel good, as it's a weight closer to my ideal one. I'd like to be skinnier, but would anyone? And isn't it better to eat plenty of a balanced diet (or atleast the beginning of a balanced diet) than to restrict your intake in the hopes of a new body?
And before someone starts about how much meat I mention, I have trouble with iron levels and need a lot of meat in my diet.Â
