Farewell online privacy
What happened?
Trump happened.
just get a VPN?
You canāt just tell people toĀ āget a VPN (Virtual Private Network)ā. Buying a VPN is like buying a house. Itās very very important. Having no VPN or having a āwrongā one can seriously damage your life. Especially for Americans because their privacy laws are garbage. I am going to try explain why you should get a VPN but bare with me, I am from Germany and my English is far from perfect.Ā
Letās start with a simple test. Click this link here:Ā https://whatismyipaddress.com/ It will tell your IP adres, your ISP (internet service provider), and your location. The location might not be very accurate, but then again, itās just a simple website. Imagine what the government can do!
So basically, everyone can find out where you live. But there is more danger. Your ISP. Your ISP logs your every move online and they are required to keep it in case the government wants access to it (or if a 3rd party wants to buy your data (yikes). They have everything. What websites you visit. How long you stay on a website. What you download.Ā Your search terms. European laws are more subtle on this but if you are from the US you are #@*#&, especially because Trump doesnāt support the open internet. Itās scary but maybe in the future you canāt get a job because the recruiter knows your searched onĀ āhow to deal with depressionā or anythings else thatās supposed to be private because itās your f*cking right. Or you get a $100k fine because you pirated a movie 15 years ago. You need a VPN. Youāre dumb for not using one. but what does a VPN do?
A VPN encrypts all your data so if it were be intercepted no one canĀ ācrack the codeā and damage your privacy.Ā
Usually being online goes like this (simplified): Your computer ā-> ISP (āā> keeps data āā> sells it)
But with a VPN it goes like: Your computer āā> VPN (encrypts data)āā> ISP (ISP canāt see shit)
Furthermore, a VPN hides your IP address and location by giving you another IP address located in Spain for example (you can often choose from a list and change as many times as you want). Ā
Now that you know why you should get a VPN and what is does it is important to educate yourself because people often choose the wrong VPN. VPN providers are also businesses and have to obey the law. If you choose a VPN provider located in the US then you are throwing your money away because the laws in the US shits on your privacy. If the US gov wants the provider to give all their logs they have to obey.Ā The ISP Ā still canāt see what you are doing online and sell your data but the US gov can interfere with your VPN provider so NEVER CHOOSE A PROVIDER LOCATED IN THE US.Ā
I just wanted to make that very clear so my followers donāt buy false security.
There is still more danger!Ā Who says your VPN provider isnāt selling your data? You need to check their logging policy. Do they keep logs? If yes, what for? For how long do they keep them? Tip: Choose a provider who doesnāt keep logs
More about lawĀ The US is part of the Five Eyes program (the worst):Ā Ā
The Five Eyes, often abbreviated as FVEY, is an intelligence alliance comprising Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. These countries are bound by the multilateral UKUSA Agreement, a treaty for joint cooperation in signals intelligence (source)
There is also a Nine Eyes (bit better) and Fourteen Eyes Program (better).Ā You donāt want a VPN provider who is located in one the Five Eyes countries.Ā If you had to choose go for a provider located in a country thatās part of the Fourteen Eyes Program or even better, go for a country that isnāt part of any program!Ā
I know this is a shitty explanation and please pardon my english but now itās time to do your own research. Take your privacy seriously. Maybe WWIII breaks out and you get killed for liking the āwrongā FB-page. Ā
Go to this website:Ā https://thatoneprivacysite.net/simple-vpn-comparison-chart/
Make sure that your future VPN provider both has green boxes for Privacy Jurisdiction and Privacy Logging.Ā
I recommend ovpn.se and trust.zone. ovpn is located in Sweden so they are part of the 14 Eyes Program and they keep minimal logs. Their business ethics, however, are alright.Ā
Trustzone is located in the Seychelles. No country can interfere and their privacy jurisdiction is the best you can get. The US want your data but needs to get it from Trustzone? The Seychelles will simply give them the finger and wave them goodbye. However, this makes this provider very appealing for people who torrent and criminals because they keep no logs (and that is how it shoud be) Also, Ā there are almost no marketing efforts so this provider is one the cheapest)
Also, often providers such as ExpressVPN are being calledĀ āThe Bestā on websites about VPNs but know that this is just marketing which also makes those provider more expensive (and they too shit on your privacy)
This must be the worst article you have ever read but please, please take your privacy very seriously.
EDIT: I got many people asking me which provider I use. For those who want to know, I use Trust Zone. They offer a free 3-day trial with no strings attached. But still do your own research!Ā
I am also with Trustzone but I think you forgot to explain one of itās most important features. It protects you when you are using someone elseās Wi-Fi. If you are at Starbucks and you use their Wi-Fi your privacy is at risk. Anyone with ill intentions could steal your information. Especially if you are using an unsecured Wi-Fi hotspot. With a VPN your data gets encrypted so no one can steal it.Ā
Wait, whatās going, on? Did trump destroy internet privacy with a bill or something? Whereās the news? Oh wait, why am I getting visions of Alex Jones and selling water purifiers?
He hasnāt yet but he says he wants to. And if he is serious about it it would be really easy to do. Since all our data is already recorded, as the person above explained.
Trump wants more surveillance of Muslim Americans. This in a country where internet privacy is already close to non-existent.Ā
Trust.Zone has a free trial. Use it.Ā
btw this post only has 11k notes? Thatās quite disappointing for something this important.Ā
Donāt reblog this post to save a life. Reblog this to protect an entire family!
@earth-ruins @writing-prompt-s Should I get trustzone for my mobile device?
If you use public Wi-Fi, then yes. Which VPN you use is up to you, amigo. Take @earth-ruins advice. Do your own research first.Ā
@elvesfromthedeepā just brought the current situation in the US to my attention (March 30, 2017).Ā

Donāt tell me you just wanted to scroll past this. Stop looking at pictures of cats for a moment, okay? Donāt you realize how important this is? This is dangerous! āAmerica, the best FREE country in the worldā my ass.
With this new law your ISP can sell your Internet history which could include passwords, usernames, religion, credit card numbers, race and much more to the highest bidder. So here is what I want you to do. You are going to read the whole thing and before you think āthis is so important. Let me reblog this real quick and go back to admiring cats again-ā NO! Donāt reblog this. Take action first. Then reblog. Sign up for a free trial! Trust.Zone offers one (here). Yes. It might be difficult to set up a VPN for some people. But is that going to stop you from protecting yourself and your family? 30 minutes. 30 minutes is all that it takes. 5 if you know how to install software. The problem with some of you is that you see ādifficultā as something negative. I want you to see difficult differently. I need you to push through this stuff. You are going to protect yourself. There is nothing negative about that. VPNs are fun and costsaving too! A VPN bypasses geographical restrictions so you can access websites you normally canāt or you could start Netflixās one month free trial over and over again- forever. And itās legal! (unless you use it to buy weapons etc.,) Donāt tell yourself that you are too tired and that you will do this tomorrow. Because that isnāt going to happen and you know it. You have to do this right now. You only have to click on it. Donāt let this/shit/life just happen to you. Take yourself seriously. Get a VPN.
Privacy is not a privilege, itās a fundamental human right
Ok sorry that itās so freaking long and also sorry for the language, but this is extremely important. Please reblog!
Reblogging again bc this is important

It was a Muslim who realized that light ENTERS our eyes, unlike the Greeks who thought we EMITTED rays, and so invented a camera from this discovery.
It was a Muslim who first tried to FLY in 852, even though it is the Wright Brothers who have taken the credit.
It was a Muslim by the name of Jabir ibn Hayyan who was known as the founder of modern Chemistry. He transformed alchemy into chemistry. He invented: distillation, purification, oxidation, evaporation, and filtration. He also discovered sulfuric and nitric acid.
It is a Muslim, by the name of Al-Jazari who is known as the father of robotics.
It was a Muslim who was the architect for Henry Vās castle.
It was a Muslim who invented hollow needles to suck cataracts from eyes, a technique still used today.
It was a Muslim who actually discovered inoculation, not Jenner and Pasteur to treat cowpox. The West just brought it over from Turkey
It was Muslims who contributed much to mathematics like Algebra and Trigonometry, which was imported over to Europe 300 years later to Fibonnaci and the rest.
It was Muslims who discovered that the Earth was round 500 years before Galileo did.
The list goes onā¦ā¦ā¦..
Just imagine a world without Muslims. Now I think you probably meant, JUST IMAGINE A WORLD WITHOUT TERRORISTS. And then I would agree, the world would definitely be a better place without those pieces of filth. But to hold a whole group responsible for the actions of a few is ignorant and racist. No one would ever expect Christians or White people to be held responsible for the acts of Timothy McVeigh (Oklahoma bombing) or Anders Breivik (Norway killing), or the gun man that shot Congresswoman Giffords in head, wounded 12 and killed 6 people, and rightly so because they had nothing to do with those incidents! Just like the rest of the 1.5 billion Muslims have nothing to do with this incident!

š®Cutting Tiesš®
A spell to sever old relationships
Note: This is not a curse, or an ill-intended spell. This is best used to help ālet goā of someone who is no longer in your life.
You will need:
š®red or white thread/string
š®taglocks representing you and the other person
š®a black candle
š®equal parts rosemary, sweet grass, and sage
š®a bowl of moon water
š®a fire safe container
š®a biodegradable container (such as an envelope)
1. Light your candle. Sit quietly and focus on the candle flame. Think about the relationship between you and the other person- all the good and the bad.
2. Take the taglock representing the other person, and wrap it in your string. Tie a knot to secure it.
3. Tie the other end of the string around your taglock, effectively binding them together.
4. Set your ties taglocks aside, and place your herbs in the fire safe container. Light them, and allow them to burn completely to ash. During this time, continue to think about the relationship between you two- this time really focusing on how it ended.
5. Take the taglocks, and hold the middle of the thread over the flame of your candle. As the flame burns through the string say:
āOur bond released
Our time is past
You have no ties to meā
6. Place the taglocks and thread into your envelope, and add the ashes from your burned herbs.
7. Bury the envelope in the earth, or in a pot of soil. Pour the moon water on top to seal the spell.
Note: I recommend using all biodegradable materials in this spell- including the taglocks. Feel free to replace the envelope with anything else that will decompose naturally: eggshells, banana peels, etc. The decomposition is key to this spell, and when the process is finished the ties between you will be totally gone.
An original spell from the grimoire of Amanda Wren
Coraline is a masterfully made film, an amazing piece of art that i would never ever ever show to a child oh my god are you kidding me
Nothing wrong with a good dose of sheer terror at a young age
āIt was a story, I learned when people began to read it, that children experienced as an adventure, but which gave adults nightmares. Itās the strangest book Iāve writtenā
-Neil Gaiman on Coraline
@nightlovechild
This is a legit psychology phenomenon tho like thereās a stop motion version of Alice and Wonderland that adults find viscerally horrifying, but children think is nbd. Itās like in that ātoy storyā period of development kids are all kind of high key convinced that their stuffed animals lead secret lives when theyāre not looking and that theyāre sleeping on top of a child-eating monster every night so they see a movie like Coraline and are just like āAh, yes. A validation of my normal everyday worldview. Same thing happened to me last Tuesday night. I told mommy and she just smiled and nodded.ā
Stephen King had this whole spiel i found really interesting about this phenomenon about how kids have like their own culture and their own literally a different way of viewing and interpreting the world with its own rules thatās like secret and removed from adult culture and that you just kinda forget ever existed as you grow up itās apparently why he writes about kids so much
An open-ended puzzle often gives parents math anxiety while their kids just happily play with it, explore, and learn. Iāve seen it so many times in math circles. We warn folks about it.
Neil Gaiman also said that the difference in reactions stems from the fact inĀ āCoralineā adults see a child in danger - while children see themselves facing danger and winning
i never saw so much push back from adults towards YA literature as when middle aged women started reading The Hunger Games. They were horrified that kids would be given such harsh stories, and I kept trying to point out the NECESSITY of confronting these hard issues in a safe fictional environment.
Also, in an interview, he said that Coraline was partially based on a story his not yet 6 year old daughter would tell himĀ
SAGAL: No. I mean, for example, your incredibly successful young adult novel āCoralineā is about a young girl in house in which thereās a hole in the wall that leads to a very mysterious and very evil world. So when you were a kid, is that what you imagined?
GAIMAN: When I was a kid, we actually lived in a house that had been divided in two at one point, which meant that one room in our house opened up onto a brick wall. And I was convinced all I had to do was just open it the right way and it wouldnāt be a brick wall. So Iād sidle over to the door and Iād pull it open.
(SOUNDBITE OF LAUGHTER)
SAGAL: Right.
GAIMAN: And it was always a brick wall.
SAGAL: Right.
GAIMAN: But it was one of those things that as I grew older, I carried it with me and I thought, I want to send somebody through that door. And when I came to write a story for my daughter Holly, at the time she was a 4 or 5-year-old girl. Sheād come home from nursery. Sheād seen me writing all day. So sheād come and climb on my lap and dictate stories to me. And itād always be about small girls named Holly.
SAGAL: Right.
GAIMAN: Who would come home to normally find their mother had been kidnapped by a witch and replaced by evil people who wanted to kill her and sheād have to go off and escape. And I thought, great, what a fun kid.
Itās anxious adults who desperately want to āsoftenā stories. Kids prefer the real thing: with monsters, bloodthirsty ogres and evil murderous stepmothers; where the littlest brother always wins and all the villains are horrendously punished in the end. The world is threatening to the eyes of a child, so they need a fictional universe where the little people have a fair chance against the big and strong.
This isnāt specifically about stop motion but it is about how sad or scary parts of movies arenāt really all that bad- IE the 80ā²s movies, particularly Don Bluthās films. (X- The Melancholy of Don Bluth, byĀ Meg Shields )
How the childrenās animation of the 80ās made room for sadness, and what that taught us.Ā
There was a time when McDonalds used to give away VHS tapes with happy meals, and by some stroke of luck, one day my mom picked The Land Before Time. It was the first film to etch itself onto me ā the way film tends to with kids. I would recreate the plot with stuffed animals and parrot the lines to whoever would listen; I pawed that VHS box until the cardboard went soft.
A couple years ago, I saw that Land Before Time was playing on t.v. and couldnāt remember the last time Iād watched it all the way through. Within five minutes I was completely obliterated and sobbing into a throw pillow. This is a shared experience for children raised with Don Bluth: that as a kid, I could only clock a hazy sense that his films felt different from Disney fare, but that the articulations of this difference, and their ability to emotionally floor me, are something Iāve only become aware of in retrospect.
There was a regime change in animation during the 80ās. Quite literally in the form of Bluthās official break with Disney in ā79, but in a more elusive sense with the landscape of what childrenās animation during that decade felt like. For whatever reason, be it Bluthās departure or a diseased managerial ethos in the wake of Waltās passing, the 80ās were a mixed bag for Disney. Donāt get me wrong, theyāre amiable and charming films, but The Fox and the Hound and The Great Mouse Detective are not classics. And for all its ambition, The Black Cauldron cannot be redeemed on technical merit. Disney would eventually yank itself out of its slump in ā89 with The Little Mermaid ā but animation during the 80ās, along with the childhoods of a slew of millennials, were definitively shaped by Bluth.
That there is a dark tenor to Bluthās work has been thoroughly, albeit perhaps vaguely, noted, often citing individual moments of terror (cc: Sharptooth, you dick). While I donāt doubt that frightening and disturbing scenes contribute to an overall sense of darkness in Bluthās work, Iām unconvinced that theyāre at the root of what distinguishes his darker tone. There is, I think, a holistic sadness to Bluth films; a pervasive, and fully integrated melancholy that permeates his earlier work.
These stories are full of crystalline moments of narrative sadness; specific story moments at which I inevitably mutter a āfuck you Don Bluth,ā and try not to cry. Thereās Littlefoot mistaking his own shadow for his dead mother; Fievel sobbing in the rain (a Bluth mainstay) convinced that his family has abandoned him; Mrs. Brisby shuddering helplessly after she and the Shrew temporarily disarm the plow. Other plot points are less tear-jerking so much as objectively miserable: the cruelty of the humans in The Secret of NIMH; An American Tailās intelligent allegory for Russian Jewish pogroms and immigration; Carface getting Charlie B. Barkin drunk and murdering him at the pier.
You knowāāāFOR KIDS!Ā
Thematically, there is an ever-present air of death about Bluthās work that is profoundly sad. Bones litter certain set-pieces; illness and age are veritable threats (shout out to Nicodemusā gnarly skeleton hands); and characters can and do bleed. Critically, Bluth films donāt gloss over grief, they sit with it. From Littlefootās straight up depression following the on-screen death of his mom, to Mrs. Brisbyās soft sorrow at finding out the details of her husbandās death.
There is a space for mourning in Bluthās stories that feels extra-narrative, and unpretentious. Critically, this is distinct from, say, wallowing. Bluthās films have a ridiculously productive attitude towards mourning, most lucidly articulated through Land Before Timeās moral mouthpiece Rooter: āyouāll always miss her, but sheāll always be with you as long as you remember the things she taught you.ā Disney meanwhile, tends to treat death as a narrative flourish, or worse, a footnote. And in comparison, even notable exceptions like Bambi and The Lion King seem immaturely timid to let palpable grief linger for longer than a scene, let alone throughout a filmās runtime.
Look at all the fun times theyāre missing.Ā
Musically, James Horner and Jerry Goldsmithās impossibly beautiful scores are laced with a forlorn undercurrent. In particular, Hornerās tonal dissonance in The Land Before Time theme punches the Wagner-lover in me in the throat (admittedly, a good thing). Further to this, the first half of Goldsmithās āEscape from N.I.M.H,ā is reminiscently Tristan and Isolde-y. And while Iām here, I would also like to formally issue a āfuck you for making me cry in publicā to American Tailās āThe Great Fire,ā which when combined with visuals, is nothing short of devastating.
Speaking of visuals, backdrops of grim and vast indifference dot Bluthās work; from the twisted Giger-esque caverns of the ratsā rosebush, to the urban rot of a thoroughly unglamorous New York and New Orleans. That these landscapes are in a state of decay is particularly dismal; there is a tangible barrenness, a lack of the warmth our characters are desperately hoping to find by their filmās end. These are depressed and morose spaces ā and that they are so seemingly unnavigable and foreboding makes them all the more compelling, and narratively resonant.
The way Bluth uses color is also notable, with dark, earthy tones prevailing throughout only to be blown out quite literally with the golden light characteristic of Bluthās hard-earned happy endings. Before Littlefoot and friends reach The Great Valley, an event marked by gradually illuminating god-rays, they must slug it out through the parched browns, blues and pitch of their prehistoric hellscape. Like Charlieās final ascendance into heaven, Fievel must endure similarly muted shades until he is finally (finally) reunited with his family and soaked in glitter ā a level of Don Bluth conclusion-sparkles perhaps only rivaled by the radiance of Mrs. Brisbyās amulet as she Jean Greyās her homestead to safety at the end of NIMH. Because Bluth leans into darker, less saturated tones, these effervescent conclusions are all the more impactful, which speaks in part to the methodology of Bluthās melancholy.
The plucky leads of Bluthās early films are all fighting for the same thing: family. From Mrs. Brisbyās persistence to protect her children, to Charlieās (eventually) selfless love for Anne-Marie, these are characters in search of home. Invariably, each of these characters gets their happy ending, but they have to go through hell to get there, literally in Charlieās case. In a recent interview, critic Doug Walker asked Bluth if there was any truth to the rumor that he thinks you can show children anything so long as thereās a happy ending, to which Bluth replied:
ā[If] you donāt show the darkness, you donāt appreciate the light. If it werenāt for December no one would appreciate May. Itās just important that you see both sides of that. As far as a happy endingā¦when you walk out of the theatre thereās [got to be] something that you have that you get to take home. What did it teach me? Am I a better person for having watched it?ā
Melancholy isnāt just a narrative device for Bluth, itās a natural part of navigating life, of searching for wholeness, and becoming a better person. Bluth acknowledges sadness in a way that never diminishes or minimizes its existence; he invites melancholy in, confesses its power, and lets it rest. Sadness is, for Bluth, an essential characteristic of the world and living in it. That is a wholly edifying message for kids, delivered in a vessel that is both palatable and unpatronizing. For this reason, among innumerable others, Bluthās work has immense value as childrenās entertainmentā¦even if it means crying into a throw pillow twenty years later.

Love this list. Just be mindful with the teas and check with your doctor first before drinking them, especially if you are on meds, in particular antidepressants, as the herbal teas can conflict with them.
^^ Adding on, St. Johnās Wort conflicts with antidepressants and can cause serotonin syndrome which results in an unpleasant trip to the hospital. Read the labels on calming tea blends before ingesting!
āWe as a fandom have to talk about-ā No. No we donāt. YouĀ can talk about it if you want to. Thatās fine, if thatās how you fandom then go for it. I hope it works out for you because I want you to enjoy your fandom experience. But if Iām in fandom for reasons thatās counter to, then I have no obligation to talk about it. I donāt haveĀ to talk about anything except what I want to.
āOkay but you have to talk about your faveās flaws-ā No! No I donāt! I have to be able to acknowledgeĀ those flaws when they come up. I have to be able to admit that my character has flaws, and accept when othersĀ talk about those flaws. But I donāt have to talk about them if I donāt want to. If I want to only focus on the better aspects of my fave, even if that means just shallowly talking about how hot they are, I can. Thatās my choice, thatās how IāveĀ decided to enjoy them.
Fandom is meant to be fun. Fandom is meant to be a hobby. I donāt haveĀ to talk about any aspect of my favorite story or ship or character or writer or anything if I donāt want to. You know whatās not fun? Having to talk about the ways my favorite thing is badĀ every time I want to talk about it. Having to point out my favorite thingās flawsĀ instead of the things that makes me enjoy it. Having to disclaimĀ before I get to sing somethingās praises becauseĀ āyeah I know itās shit BUTā. No. I can know something is bad without needing to talk about it.
Idk dude this sounds like a really great rationalization for wanting to ignore the parts of something that are problematic and not wanting to have to unpack that
Listen. If the way you fandom is to spend all of your time on critical analysis and unpack everything that makes the thing you like problematic, if thatās what youāre about, then go for it. I mean it. If thatās how you get on, then you do you, and I stand by what I said above, I hope it works out for you. I wantĀ everyone to be able to enjoy their fandom experience, even if I canāt wrap my head around whyĀ the way they fandom isĀ enjoyable.
But I donāt owe anyone anything. If I donāt wantĀ to have a big public discussion about how problematicĀ my favorite thing is, then I donāt have to. Thatās myĀ choice. I donāt have to perform a requisite level of discourse to be able to enjoy something; I can just enjoy it, and no one else gets a say in that.
Itās not a rationalization, itās reality. I can fandom sans discourse if thatās the way I choose to fandom. End of sentence.

So Scientology has recently been purchasing ad spots on social media sites including Twitter and Facebook. Scientology has always worked hard to recruit young people it seems like theyāre investing in social media as well now. I know most people think Scientology is a joke but itās a seriously dangerous cult which uses fear, extortion, violence, vandalism and various other unethical actions against those who oppose them both inside and outside the church. Here is key information on the abuses committed by Scientology:Ā
ā¢Scientology uses a form of pseudo-therapy called auditing which focuses largely on embarrassing and traumatic memories. Scientology collects the information you share and uses that information to threaten you if you oppose the church. They also charge huge amounts of money for auditing sessions (which is why they really are doing all this).
Ā ā¢They are extremely anti-psychology and psychiatry and pressure you against taking any antidepressants, anti-anxiety medication or any other drugs for mental health.
Ā ā¢They believe homosexuality can be ācuredā and are blatantly homophobic. ā¢Enemies of the church are labeled āsuppressive personsā and it is forbidden to communicate with such people. This isnāt just to limit the negative press they receive but also is a manipulative tool. If you are in the cult and decide to leave or criticize the church you stand the risk of being completely cut off from your friends and family. āSuppressive Personsā are often also harassed, stalked, or threatened.Ā
ā¢If youāre new to Scientology and your family or friends are worried about you being in a cult youāre instructed to cut them out of your life, increasing your reliance on the support system (though thereās nothing supportive about it) the church give to you.Ā
ā¢Scientologyās doctrine includes the concept of āFair Gameā. This basically says that those who are judged a threat to the Church can be punished and harassed by any and all means possible.
Ā ā¢Because of this, they have no moral qualms about having their members lie in court which they use to defend themselves from lawsuits or charges that theyāve broken the law and also to help win lawsuits against their enemies. ā¢They essentially spied on and stole information from the IRS and tried to frame the mayor of Clearwater Florida for a hit and run.Ā
ā¢Scientology filed 50 different lawsuits in one year against the Cult Awareness Network, an anti-cult organization. Using false testimony they won one of the suits and because the organization couldnāt pay the fine Scientology took the organizations name and logo so if you were calling to get out of Scientology youād be unknowingly telling Scientology of your intentions. (For full transparency my mom was a member of the Cult Awareness Network before it was taken over and was sued individually by the Church of Scientology)Ā
ā¢Scientology has an official branch known as the Sea Org, a mixture between a paramilitary group and slavery, comprised of their most dedicated members including many children/teens whoāve been raised in Scientology. This is where some of the most rampant and terrifying abuse in Scientology occurs.Ā
ā¢Sea Org members often work over 100 hours a week for Scientology for around 2$ per hour.
Ā ā¢Sea Org memberās living conditions are terrible; they live in overcrowded communal rooms with up to 12 other people, are not given healthcare unless there is a free clinic in the area, often are forced to miss meals or sleep in order to successfully completed their work.Ā
ā¢Several former Sea Org members have accused the church of physical abuse. ā¢Sea Org members may not have children and women who have become pregnant have reportedly been forced/coerced by their higher-ups to have abortions.Ā
ā¢Leaving Sea Org without permission automatically makes you a suppressive person, so young adults whoāve been raised in Scientology who want to leave are cut off from everyone theyāve ever known with no money or job and getting permission to leave can require 3 years of hard labor, social isolation, and group pressure.
thie above is 100% true. one of my friends has scientology and other cults as a special interest. there are hundreds of pages of documentation of their abuse that you can publicly read about.
itās one of the scariest āreligionsā youāll ever meet if not THE scariest because it was PURPOSELY created to make money. unlike most cults that do have some seed of genuine belief however twisted and off base the founders are, scientology was never a belief system - it was a get rich quick scheme for a terrible hack author who saw that there was more money to be made in manipulating people into a cult and then not letting them leave. higher and higher levels of scientology, which you have to take to be trulyĀ āclearā aka free of evil spirits, will cost you thousands and even millions of dollars. they will literally hook you into a billion year contract and then pursue you for any money you āoweā them, thousands of āback feesā for their religious training, if you try to leave.
oh and it has literally driven people to suicide as part of its goal to keep āsuppressive personsā from spreading information. someone even made a fucking song about its abuses.
stay the fuck away from anything marked scientology or dianetics. narconon (NOT the same as narcotics anonymous, the 12 step program) is also their thing. never even step FOOT into one of their free dianetics āauditing sessionsā because they will use it to manipulate you into joining. they are incredibly persistent and will use every trick in the book to get you on board.
scientology: not even once.
Off the top of my head, a non-exhaustive list of āBrand Namesā used by Scientology:
Narconon
Dianetics
Associate of Better Living and Education (ABLE)
Criminon
Applied Scholastics
Delphi Schools
The Way to Happiness Foundation
Author Service Inc.
Bridge Publications Inc.
Golden Era Productions
New Era Publications
Citizens Commission on Human Rights
The National Commission on Law Enforcement and Social Justice
Do not join any of the organizations.Ā Do not work with them.Ā Do not use their materials.Ā Do not give them your money.Ā Do not sign any documents.

I can add nothing to this post except to say that this is true. Iāve crossed paths with these people several times. Itās a fascinating and terrible psychological control.
Took notes on Scientology from a public speaker and regrettably this is very true, based on the research done afterwards. But I think the obvious tell is the fact that the speaker began by explaining for 20 minutes straight about how āScientology is not evil. Itās not a cult. People are just wrong and stupid.ā Anyway if you have to preface your speech with a multitude of reasons why people shouldnāt think your belief system is god awful, then you may have a problem.
I fucking heard aĀ commericalĀ for them on a fairly popular radio stationĀ and am absolute appalledĀ
Iāve heard them, too, and theyāve set up their own TV channel as well.
Particular PSA for the Tumblr crowd as I know thereās a lot of creators on here: Theyāre also behind theĀ āWriters of the Futureā andĀ āIllustrators of the Futureā contests, which are run byĀ āAuthor Services Incā andĀ āGalaxy Pressā so beware of those if youāre looking to submit anything to contests
Fyi scientology is considered a cult in France since 1995 and as a ādangerous cultā since 2006
Gonna add a lilā something. In my town, they have their āchurchā set up right near a college campus and right near the main strip of places to eat, get coffee, etc. Itās a very non-descript building and they have a sidewalk chalkboard that says āfree personality test.ā Then you look up and see āChurch of Scientologyā on the building high above the sign. If you never look up and youāre interested in stuff like Myers-Briggs and stuff, I can see someone getting sucked in very easily.
This is the money rat. Reblog and he will scamper into your room, bringing you riches in the night.
