a masterlist of what going off t did to my body
preface: i’m a detrans kink account. this is not a kink post. i’ve used both general and kink specific tags. i think it’s important to discuss what going off t can look like in general. if the content of my account makes you uncomfortable, i implore you not to click on my profile or interact with this post.
i stopped regularly taking my testosterone in 2025 and entirely stopped last summer. i know i’m a kink account, but some of you may be flirting with the idea of stopping t for other reasons, so i wanted to make a list of every change i experienced. i had been on t for nearly three years.
- my skin got softer and the acne i was getting lessened dramatically
- my scent changed. my body odour also decreased.
- i stopped needing to wash my hair twice to avoid it being greasy.
- my hair texture seemingly changed from loose waves to more defined ones
- my period came back, but different this time? prior to being on testosterone it was 8 days long, now it’s only 4. probably my favourite change.
- i started experiencing a lot more emotional highs and lows. i’d attribute this to experiencing a menstrual cycle again.
- my libido dropped and my desire is now a lot more responsive vs. spontaneous
- body hair eventually got less coarse
- my ADHD symptoms got worse, interestingly
- my bottom growth “shrank” a little. it didn’t revert, but definitely is less… enthusiastic.
- i stopped being able to access the lowest register of my voice
- my facial changes reverted after about a year. i look different now, even if it’s subtle.
- i generally got weaker & lost muscle
- the way i experience orgasms changed. they’re a lot more full-body now.
- stopped passing regularly. i get misgendered a lot more now, which is to be expected.
- my breast tissue seemingly got firmer and they got a little bigger, so it became harder to bind
- i experienced a lot less irritability/anger
- i swear to god my eyebrow hair lightened?
- my facial hair growth slowed in certain places, specifically above my lip.
overall some good changes and some bad. i went off t because i was happy with the permanent changes i had experienced but wasn’t enjoying the day-by-day impact of testosterone, specifically the amount of acne i was getting.
after experiencing a year of this, i’ve ultimately decided to go back on testosterone as i’ve realized passing/getting gendered correctly is quite important to me… but i’d encourage anyone considering it to decide based solely on what YOU want, and not based on any feelings that you MUST medically transition/be on testosterone to be valid. being on/off hrt didn’t change the fact that i’m a man, even if it made me less palatable to cis people.
do what makes you comfortable. the only person who can determine your gender is you. you do not have to prove it or perform it for others.
