i’ve unfortunately never heard of Vinland Saga so I have no clue what inspired this 😭😭 please tell me more
getting knee tats right before spending a week taking strike dip measurements of really sharp schist maybe wasn’t my smartest move

Mindat.org needs to have photo collections of like. really shit samples. Like yeah, okay, that's a photo of the most beautiful chlorite crystals I've ever seen, now show me a granular mess covered in moss that's the same shade of green as the minerals.
I worked my first 12-hour field day 🫠
I don't mind Terra Core sampling - in fact I like them - but it takes extra time to label every container on top of using a PID. It's specially annoying if the core gets jammed midway, but at least we saw some evaporite, gypsum I think (which I don't ever see at these depths along the Gulf Coast).
when u are holding a hammer everything looks like a nail -> when u are holding a point and shoot camera every sight looks incomparably ephemerally beautiful
lmfao
are you guys gonna wrap it up with the dog motif anytime soon
literally man's best friend but whatever. i guess you do sexual roleplay as some kind of tender-leaved houseplant?
you know full well that my sexual roleplays are geological in nature
This relationship is not easy. It has never been easy. No one expected it to be easy either. But they love each other regardless. They are willing to endure strong pressures and even destroy parts of themselves to be together with each other.
When they eventually pass away and are subjected to the mercy of nature, at the end what everyone sees is a surprisingly polished surface admired by everyone. It records the story between the two rocks, how they endured harsh stresses and sharp edges and corners to result in something hauntingly beautiful:
Love

hello my people i am finally geoposting about Places I Have Been. This is Pisgah Crater !!
both people in the photos are me! this is from my visit back in march of last year. went just for fun and to climb in the lava caves. Pisgah is about 35,000 years old, and in the southern most part of the Mojave Desert. Its very well preserved from the desert conditions, which makes the caves safer than average. photo #3 is from the back of Glove Cave (past the book you sign if youve ever been there) and photo #4 is where you can see whats left of the volcano!
mayfic (magnesium and iron rich) lava flows like these are highly viscous, not super gaseous, and not super volatile. because the lava moves slowly, caves are formed when the outermost part of the lava cools and the rest stays warm and continues to flow. Glove Cave specifically is a long straight cave (till you get to the back; there is a tunnel about 2ft in diameter that turns left and goes another 20ft back into the cave, i am at the beginning of that section in the third photo). overall very cool to see the different textures of the rock and the cool structures formed! its free to visit so if youre ever in southern california and have a car with decent suspension, check it out!
This stunning gypsum selenite baclava/lasagna belongs to Phillip Rendina, it was shared on Facebook, and boy aren't we jealous! We thought you needed to see it too.

see one of my problems w movies n tv shows is that they often show a character of like a scientist or a historian and try and make them extremely boring but that shit just doesnt work on me. theyll b like 'well in 13th century turkey...' n everyone will b like ughhh shut up professor dinglebarry no one cares and like. well excuse me. stop the movie. id like to hear more about 13th century turkey.
