Took nine long days away from work. I stayed within the same four walls of my tiny little apartment, the world outside being a distant thought. My toddler wandered through the tiny space with his giggles and streams of baby talk; a language I still can not quite understand. Yet somehow warmer than words anyone has ever spoken to me. My husband's brief but occasional calls remind me of his presence. Yet somewhere between the oven's heat, the glow of the screen, and their voices, I realised how quietly loneliness had settled beside me.
